I really want to see the car in person, since I am around the philly area, but I dont want to deal with the sales guys at Cherry Hill. I have no intention to buy the car new. Take some pictures for us if you do manage to get out there this weekend.

Well I almost had a red dynamic edition today. Slapped a 2500 deposit because I didn’t have time to purchase today. He brings the price to us and they tacked a 5k premium to the sticker! Out the door was 58k and change!!!! I was livid. We walked away. I would have been the first one in Va to have this car. So bummed but I’m not gonna pay OVER sticker.

The drive was incredible. The interior was amazing. I also drove a 2.0 L and it wasn’t even close. Plus the seats aren’t real leather. Don’t let them fool you! The whole feel of the cabin felt much cheaper than the 3.3 L.

I guess I will have to wait until the excitement wears off. The dealer said that someone will pay that price so they were not willing to negotiate. UFB!!!

He also said that the other genesis dealers aren’t allowed to sell 2019 cars. I think that’s a line of BS.

There were a lot of people looking at the cars today.

So bummed I need a glass of wine now.

Sorta, I was shopping for a Sonata a few years back and had some bad experience with the sales team, but things could have changed by now, who knows.

Yep. Even the Design Edition AWD has the 20 spoke wheels. Crossing my fingers that the RWD will get the 10 spoke wheels.

At least you got to try it out and enjoyed that. There probably will be a lot of market adjustments put on them until things settle down. Enjoy the wine.

Sales guy said he didn’t know about the gouging until he went to get our pricing. That’s gotta be BS. I feel upset that I walked away but my husband said he’d never pay over sticker and it’s an insult.

You may have not been lied to depending on where they are in the process. A month or so ago I was reading an article regarding Genesis in a franchising trade publication that was written by a lawyer. Most of it was about their legal troubles with setting up a new dealership network but it mentioned the process. From I remember, first Genesis Corp must be licensed in each state to be able to franchise. Once that is done then the dealers that want to be a franchise have to apply to Genesis. Once they are approved then those dealers need to apply to the state to be licensed. It could be the dealers in Richmond have been approved and ready to go by Genesis but are waiting on the state. Then again, you could have been lied to.

You are correct...they are on the last step...waiting on the State. But I was told that it was "essentially" done about a month ago. Seeing as the process takes about 2 weeks...I call BS. Guess I'll be buying from Alexandria.

What a bunch of assholes. And I talked to the manager about pricing yesterday. Of course he didn't mention the gauging. I will never talk to them again.

So at this point...I wait for Richmond dealers...or something in NC. Fvck.

I’m hopIng the other two dealerships in my area get their inventory soon. Sales guy said that the others weren’t licensed to sell 2019s. Does that even make sense? Said it was a paperwork issue and they hadn’t filed their papers. The other two dealerships have genesis badging all over the store front. Alexandria still said Hyundai. U would never know they sell genesis just by driving by.

You did the right thing especially if you don't need the car right away. I think in a few months we will see discounts and not premiums on these and other Genesis models.

They are correct. I did a search of the dealerships licenses in Virginia this morning and only Alexandria shows up. Beefer was told the others are in process.
