  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

By any chance did you see the manufacturing date of the cars? I would like to know the time those car sat at the port.

Great point. Going back to the OC Auto show again today. I’ll try to look at the manufacture date on the show cars.

I agree with dany and Ed. More info on the cars that are available now would be helpful for "early adaptors".

Just a note for people in PA. From a dealer today:
"I wish I could tell you an answer. Pennsylvania has still yet to approve Genesis as an independent manufacturer, and that's where the hold-up is. Apparently, Genesis didn't dot their I's and cross their T's well enough when they submitted their paperwork the first time."

That is sad. I emailed a bunch in PA and they either ignored me, didnt know about the G70 or told me they were no longer selling new models. Stupid how genesis can't even manage to sell them in the same state where they recived them at the port. If I purchase from a NJ dealer, which is becoming more likely, will there be a chance for issues when I try to register the car at the PA dmv? Or will the dealer sort that out? Haven't bought out of state before.

Can you imagine how hard Genesis USA has to work to be this incompetent? They have screwed up every way possible during this 2019 rollout and refuse to communicate at all about it. They want to be a luxury brand but it is obvious that the attention to detail, customer service priorities, and willingness to go the extra mile is not yet in their company culture.

Their incompetence, together with dealers that do have them, selling over sticker made my mind up. I leased a BMW and got way under sticker.

Cool, what kind did you get?

I feel they have definitely lost some sales over the way they've handled things. I don't feel as bothered by the incompetence now that I've decided to wait until next year. Hopefully they'll get it together soon.

Should not be a big deal, they do it every day. In most cases they have a runner take the paperwork to the DMV across the bridge. Only difference I found is that I could not get the car until the next day after the paperwork and registration was completed. In state most dealers can do the transfer.

Thanks, I understand it's normally not a problem, but wasn't sure how PA not recognizing Genesis as an independent manufacturer would affect this transfer.

That shouldn't have any effect on your registration. They are not recognize as a manufacturer in regards to dealer franchising. You should be fine. (y)

You have to be careful with this. Three parts to it.

First...Dealer has agreement with Genesis USA to proceed.
Next...Dealer needs to get all paperwork done with State's DMV.
Lastly...Dealer needs proper licensing within State to be a dealer and sell.

So...if they are not registered with DMV in your State that you live...I would be worried.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Where and who you bought the car from has no effect on registering it. Here is a link to the PA DMV in regards to what is needed to register a vehicle purchased out of state. Buying or Selling a Vehicle

I bought a car from out-of-state several years ago. My brother was a salesman at Foreign Motors West in Natick, Massachusetts and I was living in NC. I could get a much better deal on a BMW Z3 from FMW than anything I could find locally. I spoke to my brother who put me in touch with a BMW salesman (he sold Mercedes) and we worked out all the arrangements in advance. So, I took my license place to Massachusetts (I had sold the car privately that the plates were coming from), bought the car, drove it home, and then went to my local DMV to pay state fees and taxes. Easy-peasy and completely legal. DMV here in NC looked at all my paper work from Massachusetts and could tell what I had or hadn't paid (taxes in particular) and thus knew what I owed them. It was a completely routine transaction for them and only took a few minutes.

Cool...so all good than !! :)

It should be. I'm sure dealers do that all of the time so it is routine for them. Since they won't be collecting sales tax, if it was a sale, they probably have a number of items they need to do as part of the sale to an out of state customer.

I just got a call from Genesis Customer Servers. I left a VM asking about SI Sport with the gray stitching. This was prior to Kevin Smith replying to me confirming it is available.

But...the call that I just got kinda scared me. Of course...he has no clue what dealership gets what trim, etc. He said that this color combo might be a special order. I then asked if it is possible a dealer may get this combo and he said yes. So the idiot says one thing...than contradicts himself. This leads me to believe that they know nothing.

He also said I can check online to see what dealers have what cars. I said "Oh yeah...fantastic...lead the way". He put me on hold and said sorry that is not available yet. No shit shylock.

Lastly...I asked about the online configurator. He said they were having some issues...and he has no ETA.

So yeah...what Mr. TurtleBoy said earlier...total incompetence³.

Thanks for the diligence and info, Beefer.

Not that it really matters why, but I'm curious what "issues" would be delaying the configurator. Now that they're for sale and they finally have the configs/options nailed down, what's the holdup? Maybe it's the pictures/colors/rendering of the various elements together.

I really hate how they’re trying to charge over sticker price so I’m starting to consider other alternatives so what’s anyone’s opinion on a Acura Tlx fully loaded?
