  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

A new state and dealer showed up on cars.com this morning but interestingly they do not have any G70s. They do have some 2019 G80s and G90s. They only are showing on cars.com and not on their website (Hyundai or Genesis version) however. Rick Case Hyundai in Roswell New Mexico..

This is great news! Let's hope the ball is rolling now :)

Yes, they are within 600 miles of me now. Hopefully they get a little closer or else going for service will be an interesting trip, maybe even an interstellar one.
Maybe we will all have beautiful new G70's for our Christmas prezzies under the tree :):banghead:

Make mine a G80 Sport. ;)

I’m still think of the G80 as an option, mainly due to the extra room inside. Do you know if the 2019s G80 Sports have any improvements that would make the 2019 a better choice that the 2018 (other than that the 2018s have been sitting around for a while?)

As far as I have been able to tell by looking at the window stickers there have been no changes for 2019 for the Sport. One change for the "regular" G80s is that now you can get a Sport package as an option. From what I can tell it is just cosmetic in regards to the colors, looks and tires and does not include the continuous dampers or the seats. Would be nice to have the website updated for the 2019 models to know for sure though.

Makes me smile every morning when I check their website and the car is still there :devilish::devilish::devilish::devilish::devilish::devilish::devilish:
I would have to think anyone with that much money to burn would rather just buy a german car. The whole selling point of the G70 is it's supposed to be cheaper than its competition. These stealership markups sure aren't helping that cause.

Genesis should really step in and have a talk with dealerships that are gouging. I know that they don't have direct control but they have a lot of indirect control. I have family members who've worked in the auto business and they confirm that the manufacturer can, and often does, let dealerships know if they are displeased. Allocations are a major way this can happen, but there are others, as well. It's really not in the best interests of Genesis to have this sort of thing going on at this early stage. It casts a pall over the marque and undercuts its chief selling point -- value for the dollar. It's a bad way to get started in the US. I wouldn't think it's in the best interest of the dealerships either but they may want to reap maximum profits in the short term without adequate consideration of the longer term. Also, with a limited model, it's a self-limiting exercise, so they may get away with it. But I sure hope that consumers are more savvy than that. I'm confident that folks here will steer clear.

I spoke to the Genesis Consumer Affairs rep yesterday (Khoi) and he said we're still waiting on the California license to sell. He's hoping it may be signed by the end of the year, even though my local dealer in Dublin, CA says they hope to have cars by the end of the month. Very disappointing that CA was not one of the first states out of the gate, considering the target market for this car.

My husband wrote to Genesis Corporate the same day we told the stealership to F off...we got an email back very quickly. They said they were going to contact the dealership and look into it. We haven't heard anything since, and I didn't expect to. But at least they got our complaint.

Good for you. I think this kind of feedback can only be a good thing both for consumers and for Genesis.

In reality there is probably nothing they can do or even care to do. On almost all offers and advertisements you will see something similar to "final price is determined by the dealer". Most times that means a number under MSRP but could also mean over. ;)

Good luck to them - no sane consumer would fall for that especially with a Hyundai product.

People said the same thing about the $50k Stinger...yet both Kia and Hyundai sell a $70k vehicle...albeit, very few of them, but they do.

And probably many regretful consumers who find out a few years later how awful those cars hold value. As I've said before, great value as long as you plan to keep it for the long haul. I have a 14 Azera that's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. Basically fully depreciated by now so I don't really care at this point but had I tried to dump it let's say after two years, I would have taken a bath.
