  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

And probably many regretful consumers who find out a few years later how awful those cars hold value. As I've said before, great value as long as you plan to keep it for the long haul. I have a 14 Azera that's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. Basically fully depreciated by now so I don't really care at this point but had I tried to dump it let's say after two years, I would have taken a bath.
Does the G90 depreciate faster than other cars it wants to compete with? I'd say in the large luxury/flagship vehicles it doesn't bottom out nearly as quickly and it's also a relative bargain. The recent list from Road & Track suggests the 7-series and S-Class are both in the top 10 but neither the Kia nor the G90 make the list.
10 Cars With Fastest Depreciation - Cars With Lowest Resale Value

Then again, I would think people in the market for vehicles in this price range and higher are less concerned with the depreciation.

I would think it is real close if not more than those on the list. The residual value for a 2018 G90 in Sept was 41% for a 36/15. I think Genesis is still only considered a value during purchase or if kept a long time. Not so much if it is treated as many luxury cars are with a short turnover time.

Yeah, because the majority of them just lease which is what makes the value go down more quickly. There's always a bunch of used off lease vehicles available which drives down the price.

To add...let's face it...folks do not take care of leased cars like they would if they owned. You cannot return it all damaged...but you could sure drive the living piss out of it, etc.

This is very true. I find myself not caring as much with a lease.

Tonester,
Thanks for the 'California' update. It looks like I may be coming out to Dublin for my car, if I decide for the G70. Other dealers closer to me don't seem to be too popular with their customers.

You can get some good deals on repossessed cars too. Beware though, if the owner could not make the payments he probably did not get that last oil change either

This is from leggy’s previous post

8 fastest depreciating cars in America
8 fastest depreciating cars . . . And Genesis is not one of them.

My husband wrote to Genesis Corporate the same day we told the stealership to F off...we got an email back very quickly. They said they were going to contact the dealership and look into it. We haven't heard anything since, and I didn't expect to. But at least they got our complaint.
I told Joon at Alexandria Hyundai to contact me when he would be willing to negotiate the white prestige 2.0 on his lot because who is going to pay 46k for a 2.0 when they can pay 51k for a fully loaded 3.3?

Hopefully they start to play ball soon. I'm likely just going to get an advanced in New Jersey.

BTW I spoke to David at Safford Genesis of Springfield and he is saying they will get inventory at the end of the month now smh.

Of course it isn’t, Genesis is not five years old yet. We are talking about the future. Re. Initial article not the one year.
That link was referring to depreciation in the first year. G80 and G90 have been around longer than that.

I wasn’t though and not only is that article’s data suspect, it is meaningless. Very rarely is a new car sold after one year and if it would be, the spread on those numbers was so small there is no difference. All cars depreciate a big junk immediately after they are driven off the lot. The test of what type of value a car holds comes after the third year or so.

There may be a very few that will pay it. There are a few Mustangs in garages with no miles on them. Maybe a few Corvettes that are now into heavy 6 figures. I just don't see the G70 getting that status.

Isn't the 2.0 Prestige 45k MSRP? I don't think it's the dealer's fault the higher 2.0 trims aren't a good value; it'd be Genesis USA's fault.

So Genesis of Korea has updated their website to show off the 2019 Genesis G70. From what it looks like the model will be getting a full digital cluster so far as the new option. If this is the case and the 2020 Model year will get the digital cluster I’d probably hold off until then.
