  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Honestly I don't think people should split their heads over getting a Dynamic vs a Sport. U can't go wrong w/ a Dynamic and it drives like a dream. Go for it!

Except it only comes in Havana Red. Lovely color...but not for some.

So...you’re driving in it right now right?!?! :drive:

I feel like no one has concrete information on this. The other stuff as well seems like it's conjecture. I'm trying to debate if it's worth it for me to even shop for the dynamic edition. I'm debating the g80 3.3t sport vs g70 sport/dynamic.

My initial plan was to compare the G80 sport against the G70 sport back in May. For obvious reasons, I couldn’t and made the call then not to wait a few months (LOL) to compare vehicles. I based my decision upon the specs of each car. Outside of having the same engine (3.3t) they are two completely different cars having similar features on different scales. One being larger and heavier by 800lb (RWD) and the other smaller and more nimble. Having a Sonata Limited, I appreciated the creature comforts of a larger car. Subjective comments aside, the 5 reasons/facts on why I chose the G80 sport over the G70 sport.
  • Only .5 seconds slower than G70 sport
  • More interior room comfort, larger back seat
  • Established build & design
  • Availability
  • Cost, my OTD was less than a G70 Sport MSRP before taxes and fees.

The G80 and to a slight lesser extent the G80 sport still drive like boats in comparison to the G70. You can't overcome physics in addition to a sportier tuned suspension on the G70. If you just want a larger luxury cruiser, then the G80 sport should be your choice (and a good choice) , but there's not much sport in the G80 sport.

Agreed, facts are stubborn things. Not as nimble. The G80 Sport reminds me of my uncles 1987 Buick Grand National except having 4 doors. Great off the line but not tight in the curves. One recently sold for $165k. May park the G80 in the garage sooner than later :ROFLMAO:

Hmm, I kind of disagree on the boat feeling. Now that I have driven both the MY 18 G80 Sport AWD and G70 Dynamic, it's not that much of a difference tbh. I can imagine one might see a small difference when taking a corner at a high speed, but for everyday passing and fund driving, I didn't feel too much of a difference. Albeit, I am not a Schumacher by any means. The larger space is nice but I just can't get over how the screen looks in the G80 - it just looks antiquated. What kind of average MPG are you getting on your G80 Sport? is it AWD?

RWD. I haven't driven a G70 to compare, I can say it handles very well for what it is and a blast to drive. Little congestion, 3 lane highway I get 22 to 23 mpg in both normal and eco. Combative driving in a 2 lane higway having to pass frequently and exceeding 100 mph at times in sport mode, 19 to 20 mph.

Using it on your daily commute will not show much difference between the 2 I'd imagine. Once you get to some empty back/mountain winding roads the difference will be more perceptible. I have no doubt the G80 sport pulls well and will be much more engaging /fun to drive than a regular G80, and will be more than adequate for most drivers in daily drives. The G70 pursuers are those who want to sacrifice practicality for some additional sportiness/fun in a executive compact sedan beyond simple straight pulls.

What is your (or donnykidd) throttle response like on the G80 Sport when driving in Normal mode? I have seen posts where people say they put it into Sport mode before passing on the highway or going onto a entrance ramp. Is that really needed to make a decent pass? Sounds like sort of a pain to me. I was hoping to be able to do normal-more aggressive passing by just using the gas pedal as I do now in my Acura TL.

The majority of my time driving is on Normal mode. There is a slight delay when punching it in Normal mode the way it geared. In Sport Mode it revs higher therefore a quick response when punching it having the sweet spot in the 2500 rpm range. To me is seems tighter (steering, suspension) when in sport mode.

I like it. Gonna try my best to just wait and see for the 2020 model here in the US, and see what features we get.

I really like that!!! But I can’t wait any longer. I’ll drive mine for a while then upgrade. You can never keep up w/ technology in a car. The minute u buy, something better is around the corner...sigh. On the plus side I’ve never had “infotainment” or even Navi in my cars. So for me I’ll be upgrading big time :)

If you can hold out, maybe the G70 will see the same 10K price drop like the Stinger is seeing now.

Question you are doing a Three year lease correct?? If so then if you think about it in three years the refresh G70 would be out.
