  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Something to keep in mind. That search shows that Genesis is a registered business in the state but that doesn’t mean they have a license to franchise. Each state can be different but in some others I have looked at Genesis needed a specific manufacture license in order to be able to franchise dealers.
It has both. Look at both websites.

One shows Corporate which is for the State. Then the other website...you see the 1 dealer in Beaverton.

Not a dealer, see above.

Ran across this for Oklahoma; it lists the agenda for August 2018, which includes: Consideration and Action on the Initial License Applications for: (a) Genesis Motor America LLC - Fountain Valley, CA (Distributor for Genesis) (b) Genesis Motor America LLC - Coppell, TX (Distributor Branch for Genesis).
https://www.ok.gov/omvc/documents/Agenda August 2018.pdf
The minutes from each meeting are in a different place on the website, and appear to be about 2 months behind in posting, with August not yet posted. Generally the minutes list that the requests are approved with no objections.
So, does this mean that a dealer currently located in Texas is seeking approval (or has been approved) to be a Genesis dealer in Oklahoma?

So no dealer yet folks.

Good find. I would think that rather than that it is part of the Genesis distribution chain. May have something to do with different distribution channels or something.

Hah!! Nice.

Well, it sounds like our Hyundai/Genesis dealerships need to get it together then. I wonder what the hold up is. I mean, you'd think they would actually want to sell new Genesis products.

That is kind of funny.

Any chance for a mid year refresh for the digital dash? It seems like such a simple thing that could be added to ones that haven’t been build yet for MY 2019.

The biggest hurdle I think Genesis is going to have with this car is the rear legroom. Almost all other complaints can be fixed aftermarket but this one. They really should have extended the wheelbase 4-6 inches because the back seat is really not useable with 4 regular size adults in the car. It is extremely cramped.

Also I think if you are in the position to wait 6-12 months you will be seeing huge discounts across the Genesis brand. They have really dropped the ball across the US and Genesis YOY sales are terrible. It would not surprise me to see 10k discounts on 2019 G70’s this time next year just like what we are seeing with Stinger’s.

Well said.

The squished rear seats don’t bother me, but my wife and teenage son sat back there at the auto show and were uncomfortable. G80 Sport and Stinger are options that have the same engine but not as sharp of sport handling.

great review, thanks. just one question, in the last picture, it seems there is like 2 inches space for back seat leg room. is it possible to push the passenger seat that far back? or I'm seeing it wrong?

The passenger seat goes way far back. You don't really need to put it that far back. I'm pretty tall and putting it all the way back leaves a ton of extra leg room. I don't think I'd ever sit with it all the way back.

Yeah, it's all in what you're looking for. The G70 is meant to be a compact sport sedan. If you want more rear seat legroom you buy the G80. Personally I think the G70 not only looks better but performs better due to the lower weight and more nimble size.

That might be true...but thinking not.

Reason is...Genesis USA is not even allowed to sell in FL. Once they are able to...each dealer will have to apply for a Franchise License which can take quite a while.

Here is your search for FL. Nothing comes up with Genesis Corporate.

List of Licensed Franchise and Service Facility Dealers – Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

Ok thanks I didn't know that. They must not know what they're are talking about then. I spoke to 2 other dealers in the Orlando area and one said November while the other one said end of year. Oh well they said they'll call me when they get them in so I'll just have to wait and see.

I did get to test drive a 3.3T Sport in Siberian Ice while I was on vacation in Atlanta. It's a beautiful car in person.

any idea about lease deals as we see people beginning to get their hands on the car......???

so based on that a 3.3T car that is MSRP at 50,000 will lease for 620 USD for 36 months!!!

Doesn't matter how good that car is but paying 620/month for a lease is beyond stupid. I think with all their issues they would be lucky to break even with Acura with respect to sales. They need some miracle to resuscitate this "Luxury" brand.

Or may be I am just frustrated with this whole delay and venting here. lol

I used to be annoyed that I'll probably have to wait until the new year to even consider getting a G70, but in the end it might work out. The delay has definitely hurt the momentum the G70 had. The reviews were glowing, but now that people are having to wait so long, many have probably moved on. So not only will I get a G70 for cheaper, it will be a more unique car.

My local Hawaii genesis dealer gave me a ETA of them receiving it in January, hopefully that speeds up a bit. I wonder how they f'd up and got such a long wait for their cars

What's the price of insurance looking like for others (obviously it will vary but trying to get an idea)

I have a 2013 Audi A4 Premium Plus. Going to a 3.3T AWD Sport will cost me $260 more per year (Geico). They still don't have the G70 in their system...so who knows...that may go down.

Oh...and there’s a separate thread for this topic.
