  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I think this belongs in this forum--
Recently posted agenda for Oklahoma's Motor Vehicle Registry reflects approval of a: "Edmond Genesis" and a "Tulsa Genesis." The October meeting was cancelled--the agenda from this meeting is dated November 13, 2018. The minutes for the meeting are not posted.

I think I'm the only one in Oregon on this forum, but I figure I'll post this anyway.

Emailed Genesis USA customer service about availability for my state, got this reply.

At the moment, we do not know which retailers in Oregon have decided to become Genesis retailers. After a dealer has decided to become a Genesis retailer, they have to get licensed by the state to sell Genesis vehicles. We anticipate this process to extend to the end of the year. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Wahp wahp. :(

Same reply I got in Delware.

Not surprised.

We live in a nation for the lawyers, by the lawyers - where efficiency in government is considered morally offensive and an attack on our constitutional rights.

🤡

I think it is a template reply they give. I got:

What makes you think that this has anything whatsoever to do with government efficiency (or inefficiency) as opposed to 100% incompetence on the part of Genesis and its dealers.

Probably 90 - 10 in most states. Genesis got the ball rolling, er, bouncing.

I assume things would be easier if each state didn't have such contrasting laws along with the greed of dealers; but, as you implied, Genesis should have already had a plan to deal with this without making it out to be such a fiasco. I mean, pretty much every other car maker has not had such a pathetic roll-out.

I would expect something like this to happen if Genesis had come out with a radical new sales plan, akin to something like what Tesla did or Genesis of Canada. At least they would have an excuse in situations like those.

I concede your point.

It would be so much better if there were no dealerships like Canada!

They had a plan, albeit not a good one. Then the dealers balked and the plan was destroyed. While not radical, they had to implement plan B quickly with probably not enough staff to implement it. They want from a planned 100 dealers in some number of states to 400 dealers in 50 states and some lawsuits to add to the confusion.

They may not have an excuse, but there is a reason and it will take quite a while to sort out.

I think they should go with plan C, DIRECT SALES!

Just NOT possible. State laws won’t allow it. Has nothing to do with Genesis not wanting to. Write your Congressperson if that’s really what you think/want.

No new states this week but a few new dealers and we have broken the half-century mark as there are now 51 dealers with the 2019s.

I will crosspost in the similar thread.

Hopefully this means inventory soon... I'd rather a quick trip from north Dallas to OK vs Louisiana any day.

From the information I'm getting, Genesis does not have any dealers recognized for Oklahoma yet but that can come soon. There were some instances where inventory arrived at a dealer within a week or so from having the dealer finalized. There are some others that have been listed as dealers for well over a month and no inventory yet. Hopefully things will pick up and you will get to cross the Red River and drive back with a new one. ;)

When I first got my 2014 Jaguar XJL here in Miami, I initially leased it, but then decided to purchase it outright 12 months later. While I am 100% positive I only paid 6% sales tax when I purchased it, I'll have to double-check my old paperwork to see whether I was paying 6% or 7% on my monthly payments during the lease period. My wife and I are currently staying at our condo on Miami Beach for the next few days, so I don't have access to my files at the present time. However, I'll take a look at them when I get home and post what taxes I was paying back then.

I really appreciate you to do that. I just checked 8 different lease contracts I made in Miami Dade and Broward and all of them use 7% tax.

Okay, I just returned home from our beach condo and I have had a chance to review my old lease documents. During the 12-month period that I was leasing the Jaguar, I was paying 7% sales tax each month. However, when I purchased the car, I paid exactly 6%. Jaguar (or more accurately, Chase Auto Finance), didn't even collect the extra $50 that we've been discussing in this thread. Here are the figures from the Bill of Sale:

Sales Price - - - $61,343.25
Sales Tax - - - - - - 3,680.60
Total Paid - - - -$65,023.85
