  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Thanks, I appreciate that. Most people say I'm an odd duck rather than rare bird. :outtahere:
You are definitely an asset and have been of tremendous assistance to several of us thru this process. I am a bit weary of the waiting--I keep thinking it is getting "close," but it still seems like it is a lot of waiting.

Well odd duck I really appreciate all your help. Without your help, getting my G70 wouldn't be half as easy as it was. Thanks and good luck with your Bimmer.

I actually wasn't going to say anything about this until next week but back in December my wife and I decided to take a different path for our next vehicle. I had been looking closely at the G80 Sport and that is what brought me to this site. While waiting for Genesis to become available in Colorado I continued my research and we decided to try out the crossover/SAV market and ordered a BMW X5. It completed the build last week and it should be at my dealer today or tomorrow. :)

I thought that a Genesis would be my next vehicle but it just wasn't in the cards this time. I plan on sticking around here though and continuing with the tracking of the dealers since hopefully it is helping people out and I enjoy doing it.
And I thought you worked for Genesis because you had so much good info! Good luck with the X5. I considered an X3, but damn, these get expensive when you option them out.

Yeah I was reading that. It also says infotainment is getting a new skin /redesign when the GV80 is released. Interesting. That's not too far off.
Are you implying you think the G70 will get the same infotainment redesign for 2020? Seems unlikely to me, but at least we'll get a peek at what they're up to.

Oh, no I'm not. Just that it'll be interesting to see. Like what you said, it'll be nice to see a peek of what they're up to.

Congratulations man I’m very happy for you and your wife!! I want to thank you for helping out everyone on this forum look for their G70’s. Also just want to say you won’t be disappointed with that X5. That Inline-Six is very very good.

I think that in 2021 we will see the refreshed G70. It would most likely gain the new 3.5 TT 400 HP engine that will be revealed in the 2020 G80 Sedans. Also I expect by then they will include new materials for the interior as well as ambient lighting and hopefully a full on LED on turn signals and reverse lights.

I could see that happening. If they don't include the digital dash in the 2020, I could see that being in the refresh as well.

They have to do one but they have to come out with it in 2021. To soon for a refresh. Also G80 and GV80 are both getting revealed this year. G80 at New York and GV80 at South Korea or LA Autoshow.

The one in S Korea for this year isn't really a refresh, but they added it to the top trims and they're a year ahead of us. I'm not saying it's definitely gonna happen. Just saying they don't really have to wait for a refresh to put it in there. I'm interested to see the GV80 because I really wasn't a fan of the concept. Don't really like the G90 either.

Oh no for sure I know we’re going to get like little upgrades before we start seeing prototypes of the G70 testing around in Korea for the refresh. What I’m mostly saying is that what the new infotainment system that the GV80 is get and Materials since they don’t want to use the parts bin from Hyundai anymore is what should come with the refresh G70.

Well - - - Now we know what kind of a bird TurtleBoy is. A chicken! But not even a perfect chicken; he doesn't have a craw to wait for the GV80. Oh well, "maybe" that will be available about the time the bimmer settles into dust. Speaking of dust, the BMW G20 340 & the G70 both seem to made out of fairy dust in Cal-land, you still can't order either.

'TB', I have waited the same 2.5 month wait while the bimmer swims, slowly across the pond and waits in line for the canal. It is an excruciating wait, and I'm glad it is over for you. Also, I'm happily surprised that your car managed to navigate the gov. shutdown.

Best,
Bald Eagle

That will be on the list to look at when the BMW lease is coming to an end. I actually would have held off for another 2-3 years on getting a new car but the wife said she wasn't comfortable taking a car over 10 years old on our yearly cross country trip. My TL has never given us any problems and only has 135k miles on it so I'm confident it would have been good but when your wife says you should get a new vehicle, why not listen? ;)

Thankfully I didn't have the ocean voyage wait since the X series are made in South Carolina. It was interesting when I was doing the research on them, turns out BMW is the largest exporter of US made vehicles.

Hopefully they arrive soon and you can get yourself a new one.

X5’s are built in SC :)

How odd of me - to think that BMWs are built in the US. And "our" most exported car!?!?

Oh well, in case anyone is thinking of some other BMW, the Euro delivery is a LOT of fun, and saves a bit of money.

The digital dash on the Korean G70 is already available on the North American Kia K900.

That's cool. I remember when I used to want a K900. Back then I was poor though and could have never afforded it.
