  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G80 pricing announced!

Thanks for posting. As expected it looks like it indeed will be a bit more expensive, at least in regards to the starting MSRP.

According to the press release...

2017 G80 3.8 RWD = $41,400
2017 G80 3.8 AWD = $43,900
2017 G80 5.0 RWD = $54,550

From Hyundai's website...

2016 Genesis 3.8 RWD = $38,750
2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD = $41,250

Of course the 2016's didn't offer the 5.0 so I suppose the comparison you'd have to look at is whatever the 2015 MSRP is but I didn't look that up. All pricing is for the base models. I'm sure the Signature, Tech, and Ultimate packages are probably going to be increased a bit as well.

After looking closer at the press release I see there's a link to a .pdf that give the full G80 price sheet. Unless I'm looking at things wrong (someone correct me if I am) it appears that there are 2 fairly big changes in the packages for the G80 compared with years past. Those are....

1) In previous years there were essentially 4 different trim levels for the Genesis...Base, Signature, Technology, and Ultimate. With the 3.8 G80 there are now only 3 options which are Base, Premium, and Ultimate.

2) The 5.0 still only comes in RWD and now it doesn't have any options. It appears all 5.0's come with the Ultimate package. (I have a 3.8 and didn't shop the 5.0 so I don't know if this is a change but I guess I was always under the impression that the 5.0 had package options in the past too....again someone correct me if I am wrong on that)

New package pricing options...

2017 3.8 RWD w/Premium = $47,100
2017 3.8 RWD w/Ultimate = $51,300

2017 3.8 AWD w/Premium = $49,600
2017 3.8 AWD w/Ultimate = $53,800

Previous pricing options...

2016 3.8 RWD w/Signature = $43,600
2016 3.8 RWD w/Technology = $47,100
2016 3.8 RWD w/Ultimate = $50,600

2016 3.8 AWD w/Signature = $46,100
2016 3.8 AWD w/Technology = $49,600
2016 3.8 AWD w/Ultimate = $53,100

Also some notes on colors....
Empire State Gray will not be available after June production.
Himalayan Gray will be available starting with September production.
Pamplona Red will not be available after May production.
Sevilla Red will be available starting with October production.

As I keep looking over the information on that .pdf I keep seeing new things that have been discussed on this board and now can be confirmed or new things all together. A couple things...

- It appears that Hyundai still isn't going to be offering CarPlay and Android Auto to the Ultimate line. It says " -Deletes Android Auto & Apple CarPlay" under the Ultimate Package.

- The Ultimate Package now is the only one that gets the premium drivers seat with the seat cushion extender and side bolster. I have a '15 AWD w/Tech package and I have that in mine. Looks like I'll need the Ultimate Package for that seat going forward.

I also see a couple of what I think are errors.

Under the base options it says, "8-inch Touchscreen Navigation System w/ Rearview Camera" yet under the Premium Package it says 7-inch Color LCD Multi-Information Display. The Premium Package gets a 1 inch smaller screen?

Directly under the base G80 3.8 HTRAC AWD specs it says, "Includes all G80 FWD Content Plus:...." Pretty sure they messed up and put FWD instead of RWD.

I believe the 7-inch display is the one between the gauges. It is better than the standard one.

Couple things I noticed:
- why delete the sunshades on the 5.0? Is that the way it is now?
- SCC seems to be standard as does LKA/LDW
- Auto High beams too
The last two I thought were not standard...

For comparison's sake and to make it easier for all of us to understand the difference in the packages now compared to what we're used to I've provided a pic of 2016's packages compared to the upcoming 2017 package options.

Note that the base unit now has these as standard, which accounts for the price increase:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot detection / Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Lane keep assist / Lane departure warning
There are a few other minor features now in the base model, but these are the main ones.

I have not read the whole thing, but considering that the base model will not be base anymore (Active safety features will be standard), plus the included maintenance/valet perks......the price is not that much off from the current model.

Wait...when it says, "Proximity Key with Push Button Start / Intelligent Drive Mode"

Does that mean that we're finally getting the remote start on the actual key fob?!?

No, Proximity Key with Push Button Start is what exists now.

I'm kind of surprised, but probably shouldn't be, that people aren't responding in this thread talking about the pricing.

IMO, I'm happy and even a little shocked that Hyundai/Genesis didn't increase the MSRP on these vehicles more considering the addition of the complimentary scheduled maintenance, valet service, all BlueLink services free for 3 years/36K miles, etc...

People seem to be really hung up on the Ultimate not having CP or AA. As someone who does have those currently, let me tell you guys that you are focusing on the wrong things. The added services FAR outweigh CP or AA.

It looks to me like they are keeping MSRP prices almost the same, taking into account the changes in features and trim levels (such as all the safety items that are now standard equipment on the base trim).

However,

there are substantial discounts and factory incentives that have been provided for the Genesis, amounting to several thousand or more (above and beyond discounts given by a dealer), and it will be interesting to what the net selling price will be the for the G80 after all discounts and negotiations.

too bad they didnt add the parking sensors.

the lane departure and assist is totally useless.

Gotta leave something for the G90 that G80 doesn't have.

Parking sensors are on the Premium Package.

I don't understand why they are deleting sunshades from the V8. I use the rear sunshade all the time.

Didn't they do that on the 2016? Maybe they figure that a V8 owner can afford a window tint?

Jeeeeez, the sarcasm! I think window shades are a nice feature but dark tint does fix that issue. The only thing is that some people don't like dark tint at night and the window shade resolves that problem...
