  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had this corrected? I thought I read that official letters went out 9/15/2025.

Was curious if anyone knows if the dealerships have the software updates yet?

The Hyundai dealership I bought my G90 from would not let me pick up the car until this recall was fixed. They sent it to Genesis twice and they were unable to update the system. I told them I didn’t care about the recall so I could get the car. They were nearly impossible to get them to budge on the recall waiver.

Has anyone received an OTA yet? Are the OTA updates on hold until the update window for infotainment software downloads is reopened? The updates are closed on the downloader until 4th quarter says the message. Thought maybe the OTA recall fix might be tied to this event.

EDIT: Sorry - I missed the Hyundai part - presuming they sent it to a Genesis dealer. Surprised a Hyundai dealer even took it in - they aren't supposed to.

The dealer cannot release the car by law until the recall is completed, as it is a safety recall issued by NHTSA. There is no ability to waiver this. Doing so puts the dealer 100% on the hook for liability. If they released the car to you - you need to bring it back immediately.

Yes they sent to standalone Genesis. They actually previously were combined Genesis/Hyundai, but lost it due to Genesis’ decisions on wanting their standalone nearer to more cosmopolitan areas.

The recall law you mention is only for new cars. Ask me how I know :) This was lightly used, and depending on the state, used cars can be sold with open recalls as long as it is properly disclosed to the buyer. Both states involved in this purchase allowed used car sales with open recalls, and I was nearly screaming for the opportunity to sign the disclosure!

I saw a thread on Reddit that was about 60 days old with a Genesis dealer participating. That dealership updated me this morning on that thread, and said there is still not a solution for the recall that has been distributed to the Genesis network.

If anyone has gotten their recall corrected please update this thread.

I will probably wait until October or whenever the new software update is available on the Mac Genesis Infotainment/Maps updater before calling the dealership. I assume it will be baked into that download.

Had my 2024 G90-SC in the dealer for some other warranty work on 8-25-2025. Genesis of Mentor, Oh - a stand alone Genesis dealer. They informed me of the recall & performed the update back then.

Received the 027G recall letter, from Genesis, in early September. So that dealer had the software update back in late August & my car was updated before I received the recall letter.

Thanks for the update.

I guess I will make an appointment at my local Genesis dealership then. Not sure I will get a letter or not since I purchased it just as they were sending the letters out, from what I read.

The dealership, non-Genesis, that I bought from took it to a Maryland Genesis dealership twice and they were unable to perform update…corrupted files is what they said the first trip and I am not sure what the answer was for the second time, but they were unable to update the system, and I just wanted to pickup the car and had all my energy focused on that.

I still don’t understand why this update isn’t available over the air and why we don’t just have an update waiting for us when we start up in the morning.

I doubt you got any details around that topic since it was going in already probably just a loaner swap and paperwork with no real conversation?

As a matter of fact I did question the dealer if my car was getting over the air updates & if so why wasn't my car updated over the air. The dealer said at this time over the air updates were not available for this particular recall & must be down loaded at the dealer. It seemed strange to me but the paper work, I received from the dealer, did show the update was performed successfully. The dealer also said he was unsure this particular update will ever be available over the air. Of course that could change going forward.

You have to check the version of the software. if you have version: G90 (RS4) RS4.USA.ccIC.001.009.250707 then it should be fine. You can read this information on the NHTSA website. There is a link to the Remedy Instructions that shows what the dealer has to do.

I called the dealership based on Allen's posts above. They told me they couldn't help, and that I have to call genesis Customer Service. So I called them, and they opened a ticket, but she said there is no remedy available, and that the letters that went out on 9/15/25-ish should allude to that. As soon as a remedy was available we would be notified...yada yada yada.

Thanks SoCal, I don't believe there were any instructions the last time I checked a couple weeks ago, or I missed it.

It seems it's harder & harder to find anyone that knows their job or can even give you a correct answer. My recall letter instructs me contact any Genesis dealer to have the work performed at no charge to me. And again my invoice says the recall was performed.

Here is just a thought, mine is a 2024 & I know there were a few features added for the 2025 model. I do not know what year yours is but is it possible that they have the program recall available for the 2024 model year but not the 2025 model year because there may be some slight difference in the programming.

Great point and I meant to include that in my post and ask if that made a difference. Mine is indeed different than yours; 2023. I was distracted by SoCal’s post and chewing on when I’d get time to read the notice again and get my software version.

And I forgot to add absolutely no issues with the dashboard and Genesis customer service is still thorough and quick. I have called several times and have been talking to someone in less than a minute. To Allen’s point about model year, everything I was told could still be spot on.

Here are the remedy instructions from the NHTSA site 2023 Genesis G90 25V474.

If you enter your VIN into the NHTSA site, it will tell you if the recall applies to you.

Per the referenced bulletin:
NOTE 1: In the rare case that a vehicle has software version JW.USA.ccIC.001.013.250305 for the GV60 (JW1 EV) or RS4.USA.ccIC.001.013.250122 for the G90 (RS4), it does NOT need to be updated.
I guess I’m a rare case because I have the software version ending in 250122. Mine is a 2024 model and hasn’t seen a dealership since early March, 2025, and that was for a battery replacement. There were no recalls at the time.

Mine is an '04 as well. I have the same software.
