  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gartner Hyundai (Aurora IL) experience

I located what I thought was a White Genesis Coupe 3.8 GT with Nav and emailed the dealer. Through a few emails with the dealer internet manager I confirmed that this was indeed the car I was looking for. I asked about the doc fee upfront and it was only $150. Much better than my other encounter elsewhere so it sounded pretty good. The internet manager put me in contact with a sales person Mike Budzinski. First thing I inquired about was the interest rate and if I would be able to get the 1.9 offered in my state or if since I was buying in a different state if I could not use it. He said he would have to check and then a few minutes later called me back and confirmed that I could get the 1.9 rate offered in my state of TN even though I was purchasing in IL. I sent mike a copy of my APP and they agreed to honor the price. At this point I advised Mike that I was going on vacation but wanted this car. I suggested we hurry and overnight the paperwork before I left and got it done but was assured we could wait till I got back. In order to hold the car I put a $500 deposit down on it. We went ahead and started the finance document via fax and got that out of the way. As I was waiting for my plane Mike called and said we should do the paper work after all as the month was almost over and the special finance offer might not be available le the next month when I get back. Sounded good to me and it did not seem like it would be a problem as we could overnight the docs to the hotel and back. Considering I would be in Vegas at that time a notary should not be hard to find. I had previously provided my hotel address to mike just in case as I like to be prepared. Needless to say I ended up hanging around my hotel for a whole day expecting a package and never received one. When I heard from Mike he told me they where swamped with the clunkers. Not cool but I wasn’t going to sweat it, things happen. He then advised that when they tried to submit the deal to Hyundai finance the system kept kicking it back and that they would need to call and talk to someone. Again kind of understandable as it probably did look odd to the computer system. Monday the 24th Mike calls and tells me everything is in order and we are good to go. I hang up feeling great and type up and email with my next destinations address information so we can finish the paperwork. I even include my itinerary for coming and picking up the car on the 1st. I had a flights purchased and a shuttle from the airport paid for as well as my hotel. I went to bed quite happy certain that at the end of my vacation I would be driving home in my new car. Early Tuesday the 25th I get a call from the Dealer from a guy in Finance named Jason, Seems all of a sudden they now can not give me the 1.9% rate!!!!! Oh but they will be happy to shop around for some rates…….. Quite stunned at the time all I can do is say forget it and request my refund. (They have since refunded the deposit) Later on in the day I’m still tore up about it and decided to see what they can do for rates as I already have the money for the flight, shuttle and hotel spent. Their rates are ok but I know I can do better and try my credit union. Best they could do was 4.25 which I started to accept and even had the dealer fax a purchase agreement to them. Now this is where experience kicked in and I started to get physically ill over the whole deal. Having not listened to my gut before and been sorry for it I decided to put a halt to everything and canceled the credit and the sale. This was my personal experience, your results may differ.

If you do go with your local Credit Union, or Bank, even though you will pay a higher interest rate, you have the knowledge that your Title will be in a local Credit Union/Bank and not some nameless faceless place with the note being sold from the place you took the loan, to others. Local Credit Union or Bank, you make your last payment, and walk out with the Title. You normally can't do that with a loan going through your dealer.
