  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I made a week-end trip of only 200 miles but averaged nearly 30 miles per gallon with the 2014 V-6.
Sometimes pushing 80, once to get away from a loaded log truck just zoomed to 95 for a few seconds.
The ODO rolled over to 7000 miles on this short trip.

My cousin, he with the 2012 V6 has also reported mileage in the low 30's on a trip from Seattle to Phoenix measured by GPS.

My 2012 R-spec regularly gets 27-28 at steady highway speeds. That's not much hay for 429 horses!

Are those mpg's from the car's readout or actual miles driven by actual gallons used? The car's readout is typically quite high.

Smartphone GPS (two different ones)

Something like that. I always calculate it the old fashioned way.

I do too, I reset the trip odometer on each tank.

One of the few complaints I have about my car is that the trip odometer only goes to 1000, all my other cars I use it to track my oil change mileage.

It is the accuracy of our odometers like most cars that is the questionable part of the equation. They almost always show more miles than actual by 3-5%, which of course means we all get cheated on our warranties.

I’m also an advocate of the tried and true old fashion way of keeping track of gas mileage. During my ownership of this Genesis I’ve found it to be consistently optimistic by 2 MPG. So funny enough I usually know what the calculation will be beforehand. Like a lot of us I reset my trip A at every gas up. I also wish the odometer would more so as to use my second trip screen for oil changes.

I did a check over 5-6 tanks comparing the readout to actual measured. The readout was a little over 9% high. So if your readout said 31 mpg, you probably got about 28 mpg. My R-Spec will get 27-28 mpg at 71 mph during interstate driving per the readout-------which is really about 24-25 mpg.

Which is about the difference I would expect between a V6 and the 5.0.

Though, I average ~16 to 17 mpg mostly highway (actually measured, not using the gauge) in my 5.0L. I got 23-24 mpg per tank on a 2,500 mile road trip a while back. That's the highest I've ever gotten.

Paid $16.50 for a tank of gas today!

In my 2010 3.8 I've never seen anything above 23.5-24mpg, mind you I'm traveling around 80-85mph at highway speed and my averaged trip is around 150 miles. Also Florida is just about as flat as it gets. I've checked tire pressure and keep my K&N drop in clean. Just would like to see closer to 30mpg

I get like 18-21 mpg in the city (you can't drive more than 30 seconds) but average 40 mpg (drive from Montreal to Toronto and back) and up to 56 MPG! if I drive on a flat road at 70kmph (city highway speed limit).

Just living in the city ruins it for me, but if I drove on highways more I'd love it. Anyway, not sure how accurate the car's calculations are, but on the highway it does way better than my 6 speed, 265hp V6 Maxima.

Yeah, but I'm usually passing somebody on the right that won't move over on I95 between Jax and Savannah. If it wasn't for that, I'd be getting an indicated 27-29mpg at 75-85 on cruise.

^ That is terrible! I get 22.5 combined and get between 28 and 30 on highway trips. 2009 4.6L

+1

20 combined using math instead of the display MPG. Same highway MPG at 28-30. I have a very old thread on my MPG road trip experience too. 7 years later I still love this car! Just put it in storage for the winter @ 58,900 miles:)

Why store it? It's a great winter car with Blizzaks on it. Other than deep snow (6+ inches), I prefer driving it to my wife's Explorer.
