  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know it sounds silly but I just bought a 2013 R Spec sedan. It didn’t come with an owners manual and yes I tried searching for one online and couldn’t find one. Should I be using 91 octane? The gas cap doesn’t say anything. I have been using 87 but don’t want fo reduce performance or wear out my engine if I am using the wrong fuel.

It will run on 87, but HP will drop to 420hp. 429hp is based on 91. If you go with a performance tune you should keep to 91. I just bought a '13 R Spec as well, I figure to just keep putting in 91 despite the extra cost. Going for a performance tune later in the summer so figure I'd get used to the extra cost early. :)

BTW, pretty sure the manual is around somewhere. I got one with the car but also found an electronic one online.

Thank you! I am going to have to look into that tune as well!

Years ago, I read the using Premium will only give you a 3 to 4 HP boost, with the 5.0L....Hardly worth it.

The real question is will it be healthier for the engine in the long run
