If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. OK, 500 miles on the car now. Took a little getting used to the 'smart' cruise control, but once done, I like this gadget. I found for me the easiest method to use is set at my max speed I wish for freeway, and off you go.

Change to slower lanes, people cutting in front of you, faster lanes using the accelerator for a bit (over cruise set speed)... it is great. Almost stop and go traffic it is also great. Stop and go - no.

This gadget, as you know, cuts the speed down pretty quickly if someone cuts in front of you within the sensing distance, and is moving slower than you. Seems if they have a speed a little faster than you the gadget senses that and makes no fuss or change.

I give this thing an A.

If it would allow adding/customizing more space than the 3 bar limit between the vehicle in front - I like ahead space - then it would have the "+" = A+.

Agreed with the above points. I'm liking it more and more (I didn't like it so much at first)

I'm still at a couple hundred miles, so I haven't used Cruise Control yet. I really look forward to trying out this feature.

I had a chance to use the cruise control over the weekend on a trip to Santa Barbara and she is very intuitive. Set the cruise at 75 mph on the fast lane and she went steadily at such speed. Genny slowed down when she sensed a car ahead within the pre-set distance or when other car cut into her lane. Once the coast was clear she resumed back to the set speed. I officially declare Genny as having a "smart":D cruise control.

I like it, except it would be really neat if it could truly be stop and go, and not disengage every time you hit 5mph or less.

Old fogey here - I put cruise control in the same category as moonroofs. If they didn't come with the mfr packages I wouldn't order either one. I have had cruise in my last 4 or 5 cars but never used it. I doubt if I'll ever use cruise in my Genesis either.

I have 1800 miles on my Genesis. The adaptive cruise control is my favorite high-tech feature. I use it all the time.

Cruise control works amazingly well. I use it in stop-and-go (well, slow-and-go) traffic on a two lane road going into work every morning. Unless I get unlucky and come to complete stop, my foot never touches the gas or brake. The speed usually ranges between 10 MPH and 55 MPH.

On the way home on the interstate today I noticed an interesting feature: I was cruising at 65 and tracking a car ahead. Another car pulled into my lane between my car and the car ahead, but the car that pulled in was accelerating, so our distance started out close, but it was separating. The cruise control seemed to recognize that the new car was moving faster, so it didn't brake. It just held my speed until the car moved up the set distance. I've experienced other cases where cars pulled into my lane going my speed or slower, and my car did significant braking to back off.

Regarding the comment about wanting it to handle full stops and starts, there is a major safety issue here. Suppose you are in city traffic tracking a car in the right lane. If the light turns red and the car ahead stops so will your car. Now suppose that the car ahead does a right turn on red. If your cruise control senses the lane is clear, it will accelerate out into the intersection not realizing that the light is still red and pedestrians are crossing your lane.

great point.

Yes, a great post. I've tried this out and really like this feature on my Genesis. So then a question: if the smart cruise control radar in combining with front camera video from trafic light (green, yellow, red) to decide motion, then it will be very cool.:) Maybe somedays in the future.

A feature I would like to see is Automatic Collision Warning.

The current cruise control does a great job of accelerating and braking to keep you a safe distance from the car ahead. But if you have cruise control turned off, then it is totally disengaged. What I want is an option you can turn on that would sound an alert if the cruise control senses that your speed and distance are such that a collision will occur unless strong braking is applied immediately. That way if I get distracted with cruise control off, it will warn me if the car ahead suddenly decelerates. I wouldn't even mind if it had a setting that would automatically brake to avoid a collision.

Hi Guys,
I just bought a 2011 Genny 8 cyl. fully loaded. My question is: when you set the speed for the cruise control is it like the old type, where you have to be moving at that speed & then set it, or can you set the speed you want another way, say when you are at a slower speed or standing still. I read where someone said he set the speed for 100, does that mean he was driving at 100 & then set it? Thanks for your help.

You can adjust the set speed 1 mph at a time by pressing the + or - button on the steering wheel. If you hold the + or - down, the speed will increase or decrease in increments of 5 MPH. So, you don't have to actually be driving the speed you want the cruise set to when you set the speed.

Thanks Garddog,

I thought driving 100mph & setting it was far fetched.

I have 4300 miles on my 2010 and I love the adaptive cruise control. I find that I am more happy with it when I set it to 1 bar. Setting it to 2 or 3 bars starts the slow down too early for me.

I'm the opposite of dg_moore--I've relied heavily on cruise control since the first time I tried it (I'm sure a few of you remember the aftermarket cruise control systems that bolted on to the turn-signal stalk?). I too think that the Genesis system is outstanding. I've thought about experimenting in a parking lot with a big piece of cardboard (or a sheet? whatever) to see if it would actually fully engage the brakes; I know that it will hit them hard based on being cut off in traffic. I consider it a major safety innovation.

I agree that it would probably be great to have it work without the cruise control being engaged, as (at least) Volvo is now doing in a couple of models, and suspect that such systems will be widely available in the next few years.

There is one thing I'd consider an improvement to the existing adaptive cruise control system; a single small tone when it backs off the throttle due to proximity of another vehicle. The slow-down is so quiet and gradual (and the Lexicon so good) that I sometimes find I'm going much slower than I thought due to a dawdler ahead.

Actually, most of my daily driving is on heavily congested, slow moving commuter routes (9 miles each way). I don't make long road trips any more, and I so seldom drive on an open road that the cruise never occurs to me. I need to get out more, I guess...

Just a matter of choice. My brother-in-law does club racing and never touches the cruise. On the other hand, I'm pretty lazy.

My Gen is used everyday to travel from Athens to Atlanta and the cruise is great. Also a lot of trips on I 75 to South Georgia and Florida. Purchased the 2011 Genesis 4.6 on Sept. 20 and today, Oct 21, just turned 3300 miles, most of which was with the cruise on. It works perfectly.

Does anyone know how to disable the "smart" aspect of the cruise control and use it as traditional cruise control. I had this feature on my Infiniti fx and could use in "intelligent" mode and normal mode.

I have a 2011 V8.

Thanks

I am soooo jealous. My Genny has conventional CC and it is mostly useless. Nothing to do with the car, the highways are simply too crowded nowadays.

I have taken several long trips wih my Genny and the CC works fine when the congestion is minimal to moderate. When it works, it is wonderful as it gives me a chance to relax the leg, ankle and foot which really helps me on a long trip.

Our long trips are from Naples, FL to Birmingham, AL and then on to Pgh, PA and back to Naples. This car is great for long trips, by the way. I would add adaptive cruise control, if I could, as that would make it an even better long trip car.
