  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I received an e-mail from my dealer advising of available update for Genesis 2010 Navigation. Has anyone received similar info and what the update might contain?

No notification from dealership (yet), but I did find out a couple of months ago the map update would be ready for release in August or September -- through the dealerships. Somewhere in the $200 range as I recall.

Does anyone read the rest of the forum? There has already been a very recent thread about this under the DVD-Navigation etc. section. Take a look, there might be more information there than what you have.

Why so abrupt in the responses?
I looked in the DVD/Nav section of the Forum but while there are lots of posts, there is only vague references to the Mapping Update being available in August 2010.
'Oldtimer' is just asking if anybody has any details.
I checked with my local dealer and they have no knowledge of any mapping update. If anybody has a Part Number then please post it here and in the DVD/Nav section.

One of the pitfalls with forums and email. You can never really know how someone/people are going to interpret what you write. Maybe I was a little too blunt, but I wanted to make the OP aware that there was another thread about this in the correct section of the forum and that he/she should go there because there might be more information to help him/her out.

Next time I'll throw in one of these (:grouphug:) :D

TSB # 10-BE-004, Release Date: April 2010

This is only for the Navigation System (non-touch screen) with Drivers Information System.

It's available from your dealer, it was released to them on a TSB back in April but most dealers didn't order any of them in advance. Mine is now on order, it's unique to your vehicle as it requires the ID # off your navigation system and a key code to be entered in to validate the install. It takes 7-10 business days once ordered from your dealership to arrive.

If yours is the Navi with the DIS (Drivers Information System) non-touch screen it comes in on 3 DVD's, which can take up to 3 hours to install. Be prepared for a long wait or to leave your vehicle there for the day. My dealer said it was $99.99 + $50 service charge to install the updated map software...depending on how nice your dealer is you might get them to waive the installation fee like mine is doing.

Ah, ok my mistake..... misread what he was asking about there just thought he was looking for the TSB on the 2010 map update.....thanks :)

OK, now I'm confused (normal state :D).
I read about a new Mapping Software update for the Tech Package DIS (non touch-screen) NAV that was to be released in August 2010 and that this would probably cost in the region of $200 - although there seemed to be much speculation over the actual price. There were also posts about some dealer installed "mapping software" on a TSB not being a real benefit in terms of updated map displays with the latest roads and bug fixes.

So what is this TSB#1- BE-004 from April 2010?

What happened to the August update that we were supposedly going to have to purchase?

I take no offense from anything previously posted. Too many times I have received exceptionally clear advice and it is always appreciated. Perhaps my query was poorly stated. I found it odd that an update would be offered so quickly for the 2010 model. I particularly wanted to know what was in the update; a few more streets in god knows where? Or could it be a redesign of the whole system?
Anyway, up here in Canada, it's part # DISCF Q for $206.90 CDN (3 discs).

Hi Jack,
All 2009 Genesis models and 2010 models up to now were built & delivered with mapping software that is actually dated April 2008. We assume that was its release date so the actual map data is obviously even older than that.
I doubt it changes the Nav System functionality, it will just be a map data update with new roads and fixes for known mapping errors.
Thanks for the part number, I'll check with my dealer.

I'm on your side!:welcome: I think if everyone would SEARCH the topic and post in the same thread, that would help. Also, putting KEY words in the posting to identify the subject is helpful! Putting "Can anybody answer this???" in an initial thread headline is not helpful to those reading. Three cheers for you! I agree!::grouphug:

And I thought I started this thread with "Genesis 09-10 Nav Update"'
I humbly apologize to you, Rebecca. Next time I shall confirm the veracity of my entitled queries.
