  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

Has anyone actually installed the Dynamax VT Muffler on their stock 4.6 exhaust system? If so, how does it sound?

I like the Magnaflow system but all I hear is everyone saying it has a lot of drone and is raspy (two things I cannot deal with as I have business people in my car a lot).

The Borla system sounds great but is just too much. I am trying to get something better than the stock "silent" exhaust without overkill.

I have seen a few members talking about the Dynamax but no one has followed up with an actual review. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I saw that. He said the Dynamax VT sounds like an OEM Cadillac CTS. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this and what they think of the sound. Thanks for the reply.

Rey also used the Dynamax in conjunction with the Magnaflow system...I am wondering how it sounds with stock exhaust and Dynamax muffler.

I think the Dynomax VTs replacing just the rear mufflers on an OEM system will not sound materially louder or softer than my 2011 combo of a Dynomax VT on a Magnaflow (note, my Magnaflow was modified further with a Magnaflow "X" resonator in place of Magnaflow's "X" pipe).

The material difference, in my opinion, would be retention of the OEM 2.25" pipe system compared with a 2.5" Magnaflow system. As modified, my system was OEM quiet in light/moderate throttle settings. You could only hear exhaust very briefly on startup and under hard acceleration. Even then the sound is quite muted.

Fitting a Dynomax VT in place of the rear OEM muffler will require some creativity, but it can be done.

Rey,

Thanks for the reply! That is what I am going for. Nice sound on startup and a little more under hard acceleration. Otherwise I want it to be fairly quiet. I may go with the same setup you have.

Magnaflow cat back exhaust system, Magnaflow X-pipe resonator, and you replaced the two mufflers with the Dynomax VT mufflers, correct?

I am going to start with just the Magnaflow and x pipe and see if it's too loud and go from there. Thanks Rey!

I emailed Dynomax to ask them to come out with a system for 4.6's. Here is their reply:

"Thank you for your inquiry for Dynomax Exhaust. We appreciate your interest in our products. I have passed the information on to engineering.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our tech line at the number below."

Here's to hoping!

I personally think Corsa sounds the best (no drone) but I emailed them to ask about an exhaust system for the Genesis and never got a response. There is a video on youtube of the Corsa Exhaust on a Cadillac CTS-V and it sounds fantastic.
