If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As a former 2014 Lexus GS 350 F Sport owner and now a 2015 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate owner (I have previously owned a 2012 and another 2015. I traded both of these vehicles for Lexus vehicles), it really is disappointing to read all of the posts about the unprofessionalism of the Genesis brand and dealer. The only reason that I traded the Lexus GS 350 F Sport for the Genesis is because the 2015 3.8 has more options and technology than the 2014 GS. If the Genesis brand had the same outstanding customer service as Lexus, the G80/G90 would be the best selling vehicle in the model categories. After only having the 2015 3.8 Ultimate for a month, I already have issues with the Hyundai dealership and a rude, unprofessional person at corporate. I never had any issues with the Lexus dealership or corporate. I really love the Genesis, because the vehicle has all of the features that I want. I will see how it goes for the remainder of this year. If I have one more issue, I will try out Cadillac, Audi or Mercedes, luxury brands with dealerships.

Sorry to hear you're having these issues - but thank you very much for reporting them. Can you give any more details on your bad experiences? Things like this need to be out in the open and if more people took the time to post about them - Hyundai Corporate MAY address the issues. I say "MAY" because I don't think they're "there" yet. They're "getting there" - but improvement is still needed...

Based on the location of the OP'er, and the dealer problems, I would not be surprised if that was Ed Voyles Hyundai. I had a couple of bad experiences with them also. They even FUBAR'ed an oil change (the one and only oil change I have had done at a dealer).

Lol, ding, ding, ding! You are correct! For the third Genesis purchase, I tried Jim Ellis Hyundai. They are actually worse than Ed Voyles Hyundai.

At this point, it seems like they don’t care. In my opinion, the Genesis brand will not succeed until they have stand alone dealerships. If Lexus had a similar vehicle as the Genesis, I would not have left the brand. I am not interested in none of the vehicles in the current Lexus fleet. Like I said, I will see what happens this year, but I am not researching other luxury brands.

But you bought a Hyundai Genesis, so what did you expect? You’ll get basic Hyundai level service. You didn’t buy a Genesis G80/G90 where a higher level of customer service was promised!

You are correct. I made a mistake for purchasing another ‘HYUNDAI’ Genesis. From what I am reading in the G80/G90 area, the ‘Genesis’ customers are not receiving much better service.

In reading posts on this forum from G80 and G90 owners, and given the fact that they are sold and serviced at Hyundai dealers, I don't think the level of service is any different. The only thing that was "promised" was the valet service, and many have reported that it was not being provided as promised (depending on the dealer).

We have 6 Hyundai Dealers in Calgary & now only one Genesis Dealer.
I think Hyundai are trying to make the best of a bad situation.
They are losing all the possible impulse buyers in 5 dealerships who might for example have a Santa Fe or a Sonata who in the past saw a Genesis in the showroom maybe when they were in for service.

This cancelling of the exclusive Genesis franchise has not been disclosed for Canada so I assume it's not happening here yet.

I think it's a great idea as stand alone Genesis has contributed to the slowdown in Genesis sales in 2018 along with no SUV's available in a 71% SUV market in Canada in the first 4 months of this year.
I bought my 2016 in January from a Hyundai Dealer & they have treated me fine as far as any small issues I have had with my car. Instant ,helpful efficient service & they washed my car twice when I stopped in without an appointment.
The coffee is just OK in the Hyundai Dealership compared to stand alone Luxury Brands but I really bought the car & not access to a free Barista. For good coffee I'll go to Starbucks ;).

Promised, not yet fully delivered. I think we will see stand alone dealers in the future once the path is finally figured out. Marginal dealers will drop the Genesis as they can't justify the expense of meeting requirements.

We hear complaints about Hyundai dealer and yes, it is justified, but those same complaints are in just about every automotive forum no matter the brand. Most of us have had personal experiences with a questionable dealership. I've had dealings with three Hyundai dealers, two good, one bad. There are also Buick and Mercedes dealers that I'd not set foot in again. It will take a few years to shake down though. not the wave of a magic wand of 100 dealers.

What happens in Canada is up to Hyundai Canada, not up to Hyundai Motor America (parent company of Genesis Motors America). The Hyundai (and Genesis) vehicles sold in Canada are typically different than the ones sold in USA in terms of options and trim levels.

The dealer franchise laws in the USA are different than Canada, and actually each state in the USA has their own franchise laws (but most of them are similar). That has a big impact on how vehicles are sold, because in the USA the manufacturer is not allowed to own a dealership or sell cars directly to consumers (although some manufacturers like Tesla have gotten around those laws in some states, probably due to their lower sales volume).

The issues tend to be dealer specific. I purchased a used 2011 Equus several years ago. Customer service remains high at Autonation Mall of GA.

I have had very good experiences with my dealer. I purchased a Sonata from them in 2012 and have always been treated well. I purchased my G80 Sport and they have upped the level of attention they provide me. I have been completely satisfied.

I'm debating on whether to buy the Genesis with the options/colors I want from CarMax, or wait for my local Hyundai dealer to get a CPO in...

Despite my issues with a 2013 Hyundai Genesis and the buy-back experience, overall AutoNation Mall of Georgia has been very good over the years, including my most recent purchase of a 2018 Genesis G80 Ultimate.

What an odd reply. Where do you live and what do you drive that you are immune to the same typical concerns that every one of us here has?

By the way, if I stop by your dealer for service, the same mechanic's hands that work on your car will be working on mine. Same thing when you drop in at my dealer for service.

All excellent points and well-stated!

You've complained a lot, but haven't offered any specifics. Exactly what went wrong????

How, exactly is this an odd reply? The OP was talking about reading many posts about the unprofessionalism of the Genesis brand and dealer and related his own issues with a Hyundai dealership and a rude, unprofessional person at corporate. However, he bought a Hyundai Genesis - not a Genesis G90, G90 etc., where there was some promise of a better brand experience and service (like concierge/valet service/loaners, etc.,) than one would expect from a Hyundai branded vehicle. He went on to say "If the Genesis brand had the same outstanding customer service as Lexus, the G80/G90 would be the best selling vehicle in the model categories". I was merely pointing out that he should not base his opinion of the Genesis Brand on his experience with his Hyundai Genesis at a Hyundai dealer or have expectations of a Genesis Brand experience in his situation - that's all!

Of course, whether or not Genesis as a Brand is living up to it's promises is a valid but completely separate issue.[/QUOTE]

Sounds like your dealer (wherever you live and whatever you drive) is on a higher plane that the rest of us. In the USA, anyway, we all deal with Hyundai dealers servicing our vehicles. Same with you, if you live in the USA. Come down to reality. You are in the same boat with the rest of us.

By the way, the OP has yet to explain to us just what problems he is having. However, that hasn't prevented you from telling us that you know exactly what his problems are and how to fix them.
