If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is is possible to get black leather with the black ash matte wood (with Ultimate package)?
Seems to only be available with the ivory leather; is this correct?

Unfortunately it is not, I would have loved this. Each leather color has a specific wood color.

Problem is that Hyundai obviously tries to limit the number of options that dealers need to have - thus the major option packages. I would be surprised to see more than one trim option per interior color in a Genesis. On a lower selling model like the Genesis, dealers are not going to want to have more cars on the lot or create too many "options" that will require ordering or swapping vehicles.

Understandable. However, the Genesis's competition all offer at least two interior color options per model, including trim. The one color one trim approach makes sense on entry and mid level models but at this price point, buyers should have more customization options.

I like the combination of the black/black ash matte so much, I asked the dealer if it could be changed.....unfortunately I never got a response [emoji25] .

At that price point which may be high for Hyundai, those kind of options are not as likely. Hyundai is not a custom build manufacturer and the vast majority of their cars are lot bought. BMW can afford to sell "build your own" cars, but there is a price to that flexibility and loss of economies of scale that Hyundai has by limiting the number of SKU's and passing those savings to you.

Are you a Goth or something? The greyish wood looks fine to me with a black interior.

Anything can be changed if you have enough money.

Don't be douchey. It's a matter of preference and mine is the matte black wood with dark interior.

I'm pretty sure that 'akeelj' could care less what Mark 888 thinks should be fine for all of us. All 'akeelj' implied was it would be nice if Hyundai offered Genesis sedan customers a bit more flexibility in choosing their cars interior - regardless of ones life style ;).

If you want to be able to custom order every possible color combination, try BMW or MB (and wait a couple of months for your car to be built and delivered).

There is a reason why the Genesis costs a lot less than comparable cars, and I for one don't want Genesis prices raised just to satisfy every color combo wish. So in balance, it would not be "nice" if offering complete flexibility in exchange for increased prices (as it clearly would).

The color combinations are clearly documented on the Hyundai website. If they are unacceptable, please buy another car.

Mark_888 - perhaps you didn't understand the original post.
It's not a question of wanting dozens of interior color combinations. It is a desire to have a dark interior with dark trim on a vehicle they like. If you noticed on the Gene site, the Black Ash matte trim is ONLY available with the ivory interior on Ultimate equipped cars.
It would be nice to see Hyundai offer at dark interior to those who prefer more monochromatic color scheme.

- Do you work Hyundai or something? You seem to be catching feeling over interior color combinations

Yes, I can read, and I understand that Ash matte trim is ONLY available with the ivory interior on Ultimate equipped cars.

Someone already explained to you the extra cost of making every color combination available. Hyundai and most other manufacturers don't do that.

MB and BMW do usually offer a wider range of custom color combinations, but very few MB/BMW buyers order custom cars because the dealers will not discount custom order cars very much (or at all) and it takes a while for them to get built and shipped to the US. Ultra luxury cars like RR/Bentley have thousands of color combinations and will sometimes do custom colors.

Like I said, if the Genesis does not meet your requirements, shop elsewhere.

So you understand that my interest in the ash trim is just preference. I'm not lobbying for Hyundai to offer custom combinations. Perhaps I should've posed the question different to avoid you getting your Hyundai britches in a more of twist.
"Why did the Genesis designers (seemingly Mark_888) only offer the Black Ash Matte with the Ivory interior?"

I don't work for Hyundai. If you read all my previous posts, that would be very obvious.

As to why they only offer black ash wood with the ivory interior, I suspect it is two things:
  • Current fashion trends in car interiors. Contrasting color scheme seem to be the current fashion trend.
  • The black monotone interior with brown ash wood is a tasteful choice, given that they only offer one wood trim color with each interior color, and will likely appeal to the largest number of customers.

Gee Mark....how could I be so careless and no read ALL of your previous posts?? After all you are the center of the universe [emoji295].
Nevertheless, I appreciate your opinions regarding Hyundai's choice of color combinations.

I didn't say you "should" read all my posts, I just said that if you did you would see that your accusation that I worked for Hyundai was not true, and obviously ridiculous.
