  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Connected Services

This might be a stupid question, but are your car doors locked when you send these requests? I'm not certain if it applies to other functions, but I know the remote start function requires doors to be locked prior to its use (and it won't do it automatically AFAIK). So you'd have to send a door lock request, then the remote start.

The ID registration could also be an issue. I could envision a scenario where there's a couple days "trial" period where registration isn't needed

Given the "geniuses" in this world, I don't consider that a stupid question at all. That being said, the doors are ALWAYS locked when I send requests. I lock the doors manually, both with my key fob OR with the button on my door handle. When the car is locked, I send a "lock doors" request OR a "unlock doors" request and both spit up the "cannot process request" notification I described above.

Genesis Motors of USA is inspecting my modem ID (i think) to make sure it is synced to the servers properly. Personally, I think the old modem is still synced on the server side and the new modem ID was not introduced onto their side. I could be wrong.

The only other wacked-out scenario I can consider is if the modem they installed into my car is refurbished and registered with another car. This would explain the failure in requests since the application requests being sent can't be verified on the server side since the new "refurbished" modem is still attached to the old VIN.

At this point, anything is possible.

I am assuming this in NOT the error you are getting, correct ?

ACTUALLY, THAT'S EXACTLY THE SAME MESSAGE I RECEIVE WHEN I TRY TO GEO-LOCATE MY CAR ON THE MAP!
or
When I try to update the status on my car.

The other messages I get are when I send requests to my car, such as lock doors or remote start:

"Your request for Remote Door Lock on 02/11/2020 at 09:30 AM EST was not processed. The feature is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Just to be clear, @Mcc found your problem, not me. Haha.

Ladies and Gents,

On top of the whole Genesis connected services, yesterday my car GPS went on the fritz for the second time. When I'm driving on a highway or major road, the car is being displayed about 0.1 miles off my actual location. At one point, driving on a highway near an airport, my car was being displayed driving on the runway... It's now in service, being looked at. I've contacted Genesis Motors of America and they escalated my ticket to a case manager at hyundai corporate...

I'm assuming no has ever had this problem?

That's not a GPS issue, necessarily. The maps could be wrong. How old is that stretch of the highway?

The Maps were updated to the most recent version released by Genesis. New sd card and maps were uploaded into the car. Highway is over 10 years old.

Still doubt it's a GPS antenna issue.... Especially if it's right everywhere except that stretch.

I loaded the 13.5 map last year and it has had many errors. It had my home address 2-3 house in the wrong direction from my actual house. So honestly, I'd blame the software and not hardware.

I agree. I doubt it’s the antenna.
has it always been off in that stretch of road?
maybe airport radar signals could be confusing it also?

Let me clear it up a bit. My location is wrong everywhere. I used the highway instance as an example. As I drive on any road, highway or one lane, the GPS displays my car driving on top of houses or fields, nearly 0.1 mi northeast of my car's actual position.

Additionally, the farther I drive, the farther away from my actual position my car icon is displayed. It's almost like the system's calibration becomes less and less accurate the longer and farther the car is driven. When the car is turned off and on again, it resets to within that 0.1 mi offset.

OK, that's different. Evidently something is giving a bad location.

Since it clears when you turn the car off, I'd take it for a long enough ride to show it far off, then go to the dealer and let them look at it while still running. A quick ride around the block should verify the offset. If it does it consistently, I'd call the dealer and get a time to bring it rather than just show up.

Could be antenna, but could be some internal function. .

Driving on tops of houses, that could be a video moment. I don’t use my nav much but have had portable GPS before show I’m off road in the field or on a lake. Normally just momentary and the GPS gets me back on road shortly.

Sure seems like there's a lot of inconsistencies with Genesis and their services.

Like, I had my first oil change at a Genesis dealership and they didn't add the service record to my Connected Services account. It's been almost a week, so I added it myself. They didn't add my window tint before that, either.

Also, based on my driving they say I should follow the severe schedule so my oil changes should be 3,750 miles. It says this on the CS website (see attached). However, the maintenance timeline on the same page says I have 5,285 miles before my next service. On top of that, the sticker on the upper left corner of my windshield says my oil should be changed after 5000 miles.

That combined with the fact that they have no intention of providing the recommended oil type during my first three years of free maintenance leaves me to believe they built this great & and visually attractive framework of appearance and service but there's no backing or consistency behind it. I sure hope I never have a major problem with my car.

I've not seen any consistency on oil changes from any shop in many years. Some still push the 3000 miles change because they make their living from doing it so why tell you to only come in half the time? Old habits. Not easy to change them. I go by the book as long as it is in warranty.

In my case, my three years is up in October. I'll go in next month and then again to get my last freebie in October even though I could stretch them.

I had a call today from my dealer. The Genesis connect notified them of my 3750 mileage and first service interval. I asked why now rather than at the 7500 mile recommended interval. She said for a first service, oil change only, the recommendation is 3750 and then follow the 7500 mile pattern thereafter. I should have asked if it is 12 months instead of mileage but maybe later.
I had my first oil change with full synthetic at my preferred independent shop two weeks ago and he showed me the oil he removed and said it looked excellent and while on the lift he said it is a dream to work on. Easy access, well displayed, understandable. This is the 2 L RWD and the first one he has seen.

It is all rather inconsistent coming from Genesis. There should be consistencies across Genesis corporate to the dealers, and then to us, but it's apparently all over the map. For example, you would think the mileage intervals on their website would match, and that would flow down to the service tech who's putting the reminder sticker on the upper left corner of the windshield. It's just not that hard to do!

Tarhoosier, it's good you got a reminder but why are we all getting the reminder. Also, it's good to hear that the oil change is easy access. I did look at mine and there is an access door below the filter. My first dealership oil change went well other than the fact that they scratched up my paint in the car wash, so I'll probably continue that. But it sounds like future self changes are going to be easy.

When I use the Genesis connected app on my iPhone and attempt to start the vehicle, I get a "server-side error {C500}. But if I use the Alexa App and give the command "Alexa tell Genesis to start my G70" it works almost every time. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on and how to fix it?
