If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At this moment, I'm 1,138 miles into a road trip from Texas to Colorado and back. Today, the Driver Information System control knob stopped recognizing turning inputs. I can still nudge the controller left, right, up, and down, and then push down to make selections, but if I twist the controller to scroll up/down, it does nothing. Anyone experience a similar problem and have an idea of what's going wrong? Sad for a car with only 5K miles on it.

Mine gave out after about 6 months too. Same symptoms. Had to have it replaced under warranty. The new one has held up about a year now

Looks like the same route here. Took it to the dealer this morning and they're ordering a part for warranty replacement. Gee, two warranty trips to the dealer within two weeks. Not a good trend.

Exact same problem here. I'm taking it in this week. This is actually the first problem I've had. I'm at 33k miles on a 2009 4.6 Tech.

You're only 3000K mi away from it not falling under warranty!!!!!

I wonder when the TSB will be issued? It took about 6 weeks to get the part for my Genny's DIS controller knob. I started getting real good at voice commands while I was waiting for the part to come in.

...ditto on the bad DIS knob. 23K miles and only warranty claim I've had.

I bought my '12 Genesis 2 weeks ago and the XM button is already jammed from use after less than 1000 miles. I need to take it in to replace the rear badge anyways but hope this is just a one time thing!

Sorry for your problems with control knob. I have the very same problem I was sitting on the lot with my salesman showing me how to use the systems when the control knob failed. It is at the dealer for repairs which I'm sure they will not have the part. I hope this is not the start of a really unhappy experience with Hyundai.

Just got it fixed last Tuesday. When I took in the services people there knew what exactly the problem was and how to fix it. They even have all the parts there so the work was done in 1.5 hours.

Seems to me that this was a pretty common fix for them. I feel that this wont be a recurring problem.

I had the same problem on my 2009 4.6 at 37000 miles. The dealer did the repair under warranty but later informed me they made a mistake and it should not have been covered.(they did not ask for reimbursement)

Just had the knob replaced this week. It went out on us last week just as we were entering the NY City metro area - terrible timing! We worked around with our phone navi AOK but still a bit of a pain. I also had the tilt/telescope switch replaced a couple of weeks ago. I'm at 30K miles and am concerned with the possibility of the knob going out again in future ...does not seem like it would be something to consider being part of a normal maintenance schedule (e.g., brakes, tires, etc.) - but interesting that they had a knob in stock so perhaps not an infrequent repair item?! Otherwise, have been extremely happy with the car..hopefully these were "flukes" and can go another 30K+ without additional problems!

What was the name of the dealership....have the knob problem with my 4.6 too

Hopefully, the DIS knob is less expensive than the whole system!
