  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Cool.

How long did you charge and what charge rate/speed did you see?
I was at 70% before charging. I just wanted to just try the Tesla charger for the first time. So from 70 to 80% it charged at 97kwh. At 80 to 90% it went as low as 57kwh to 76kwh. This location was time of use pricing. I went before 8am at .39kw.

This post made my day. Tesla has had adapters to use L2 and L3 non-tesla charging stations for a long time while the rest of us have opined for the SCN.

My brief time driving a MY the best thing about it was the network. It's going to get a lot more uncomfortable for Tesla owners as SC stations start getting filled with everybody and their Chevy Bolt....
Do we need to join something, or download something, etc to charge a Genesis at a Supercharger?

Yes. Download the Tesla app on whatever platform you are using (Apple/Android). Create an account. Add a payment method to that account. You will input the vehicle you have and the app will show you which chargers are available to you. Not all Tesla chargers are open to non-tesla vehicles. You will initiate a charging session in the app when you are at a Tesla Charging Station.

Unless you use a tesla station with a "magic dock" which has a tesla to CCS adapter built into the station you will need to use your tesla NACS adapter (either the one Genesis eventually sends you if you meet eligibility criteria or a 3rd party one you purchase).

If anybody looks at you funny tell them if they don't like Non-Tesla's charging at Tesla stations blame Elon Musk not you.

Enjoy.

I did have a TESLA driver charging next to me ask why I pulled into a TESLA charger with a non TESLA vehicle. I told him TESLA is opening up the network to non Teslas. He replied that he had not idea that was happening. As I drove away, other TESLA folks charging looked up at me. They are probably thinking it's going to get a little more busy at TESLA charging stations.
Seriously? What rock do these people live under. This has been all over the news for 2 years. SMH

Successfully charged at a V3.5 charger today. 2025 Advanced trim, Lectron Vortex adapter, 97Kw max at 75% SOC. Less than I should get at an EA or EVGO charger at that SOC, but just what I would expect from a V3.5 charger. $.49/Kw.

Which Tesla location has time of use pricing? We own a Y in addition to the GV60 and we have never seen that at a Supercharger. Not sure I would like that.

This is Northern California. These are the rates on the App for non Tesla owners in my area. I don't own a Tesla, can you advise how Tesla charges a Tesla owner? Do you have a flat rate during anytime of the day or night and at any Tesla location? Also are you charged a Monthly fee? I did not sign up for the non Tesla Membership, unless I start to use it often.

I owned a MSLR briefly in 2023. There was a peak / non peak differential for the super charger stations around Charlotte and it varied from station to station. As a Tesla owner I didn't pay a membership fee for super charging.

Additionally, in some states Tesla couldn't 'sell electricity' so you payed a per minute usage fee to 'charge' at a supercharger.

Anyone have any recommendations on a L2 NACS to J1772 adapter for use with the Tesla destination chargers? I’m thinking of picking up the one from A2Z: NACS Charger To J1772 Vehicle | AC | The Stellar Plug
You want to use Telsa L2 public chargers to charge the GV60? I believe Tesla only granted Genesis the use of their Magic Dock and their V3 and V 4 chargers. Or do you mean you have a home Tesla charger and want a J1772 A2Z adapter?

I think the Tesla destination chargers have always been available, and many of them are free.

Yes, but don’t they require an adapter?

1. It would be useful to have the ability to use home Tesla chargers

2. Many hotels I’ve stayed at in the past have offered Tesla destination chargers for free

However, it’s my understanding that an adapter is required in both use cases.

o.k. I think I understand now. As to the A2Z products. I have the Tesla DC adapter and it is very well constructed and works well. I would assume their other product would be of the same quality.

That’s what I thought. So I assume the adapter I posted earlier is the right one?
Since level 2 charging is not very demanding, I would think any quality adapter from a reputable company should work. That would include both Tesla, Lectron and A2Z.

I have the Lectron one available on Amazon for $112. Used for years at hotel destination chargers with no issue.

People get hyped about DCFC and NACS adapters but the reality is if you can get destination charging at your hotel (usually for free) it really reduces your need for fast charging when you travel.

Things you should always have in your travel kit:

J1772 to NACS adapter (L2)
CCS to NACS adapter (L3)
OEM provided L1 charging cable
Battery booster (make sure to recharge at least 2 times a year)
Your physical GV60 key

Sorry I misunderstood your post. When you said "time of use pricing" thought you meant you were charged by the minute or hour versus per kwh as there are some L2 stations that do that. When charging our Tesla many (but not all) Superchargers have Time of Day pricing. Not surprisingly the lowest prices are often in the wee hours of the morning when there is less demand. One other thing to note is that at least some Superchargers charge more per kwh for non Teslas even with the $12.99 monthly membership fee. I noticed that with the GV60 all the way back to when the Magic Docks started appearing.
