  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Just received email. Of note, I am not the original owner (and have been wondering if i would get one since e.g. complimentary EA charging does not transfer)
Great news! Im a CPO owner with no EA as well.:(

Has anybody purchased a cheap NACS to J1772 level 2 adapter for use at hotels etc? I know they are not for Tesla Charging Stations

I wouldn't say cheap. You don't want to mess around with cheaply made adapters on Amazon. I have the Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter. It runs about $112 on Amazon. I have been using it for years now with multiple EVs at hotels with tesla destination charging with no issues.

I am also a CPO owner but did get complimentary charging with EA because the vehicle was never registered. Did you attempt to register? Do you know for certain that the vehicle was registered before you took ownership and someone signed up for EA?

I have this adapter as well and have used it at a few hotel destination chargers with no problems.

Certain EA was active on the VIN. Sorry, I vaguely remember an error to the effect duplicate/already registered (while I checking if I could just register with the engine code - no dice.)

Thank you for good advise.

Thank you for good advise.
There’s a Youtube page here somewhere who displays the different adapter options. On it, there’s a coupon link that takes nearly $50 off the A2Z price, and it works.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I'm in the same boat as MGBV60, I tried to register the vehicle and got an error. I called EA and they confirmed that the vehicle was already registered under the previous owner's account. I begged and pleaded but EA would not grant me any grace to make a happy user. Yes, EA stinks.
The previous owner on the title was Hyundia Motor America. So, it must have been a lease? I was going to try to track down the owner and see if they would transfer the account, any ideas how to find them? It is sad that the vehicle was registered, only used for 3400 miles and all free charging is...POOF, gone.
I saw in another thread that an owner received a "charge credit" from their selling dealership. I wish I would have thought of that.

So stoked to get an email from Genesis only to open it and find out it is my monthly vehicle report.

Tick...tock

The scam will be that we will get the free one in a year - meanwhile, feel free to buy the part directly for a cold $250 any time!
I don't understand why you call it a "scam."
I am disappointed in the extremely poor/nonexistent communications from Hyundai/Genesis but I see no reason to ascribe a negative motive like a scam.
As a number of other vehicle manufacturers have discovered, making reliable CCS1 to NACS converters is not easy.
Hey Genesis, how about an update to your customers?

I also don't think it's scam on the part of Genesis, I do however believe that their lack of communication is very concerning and does nothing to help build brand loyalty. It would have been better if they had advised all owner as to how the specific rollout would operate i.e. buyers of the earlier models would receive the adapter first or if it was by region of the Country etc.. I couldn't wait for Genesis and I purchased the A2Z adapter for $152 and it works without issue so far.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek.

I received my email a couple days ago. I'm in SC.
Sorry for being tardy on my reporting. 😊

Congrats! Thanks for reporting. Late is better than never!

FYI All,
I just got off the phone with Genesis Customer Care (844-340-9741) after asking why, as of 30 April, I had not received a NACS adapter email from Genesis.
I referenced this earlier press release from Genesis "Genesis Motor America has recently announced that current and new Genesis EV owners who have purchased or leased their vehicle on or before January 31, 2025, will be able to request one complimentary NACS adapter (shipping included) through the MyGenesis owner portal by the end of April 2025."
After referencing and confirming my contact information, he read me an updated version of the above announcement which now cites by the end of May 2025 as the notification deadline.

I had seen the updated end of May deadline somewhere else (maybe reddit). Who knows if they push that date back as well. Hopefully not.

IMO, the industry made a mistake having each EV manufacturer release their own unique NACS adapter (which needs to be approved by Tesla, further adding to the delays).

One of the EV manufacturers, Rivian, released a NACS adapter, and approved by Tesla, which would work with any CCS1 EV without any issues. Instead of having this design become the universal adapter, the industry chose that each EV manufacturer would come out with their own design, then go through the approval cycle with Tesla before releasing it to the public. IMO, this just added costs and delays to the process, with no value added. The Rivian adapter would have worked just fine with any other CCS1 EV, be it a 400V battery architecture or the 800V battery architecture that Hyundai/Kia/Genesis uses.

When one considers that one of the biggest complaints potential EV buyers have is the lack of charging stations, the industry could have solved this a lot quicker with a single universal adapter, approved by Tesla, rather than the slow rollout from each EV manufacturer of their own unique design. This approach just added costs and delays, with no value added.
