In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Apparently I am so out of luck. Had the GV60 since April 2023 and inquired about the free adapter today on the phone after patiently waiting for the email that never arrived. If I had known there was a deadline on this, I would have bitched and complained via their customer service.

“Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care regarding the North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter offer.

The complimentary NACS Adapter program has concluded, and we can no longer accept new requests. The complimentary NACS Adapter program was offered as a gesture of goodwill and was originally intended to run for a limited time. We appreciate your understanding and apologize if this does not align with your expectations.

If you are interested in purchasing a NACS adapter compatible with your vehicle, we recommend contacting your local Genesis retailer.”

Did you have any communication with Genesis Customer Support (including a support ticket number) prior to your recent phone call? If you had any communication, you should reply to that since they were honoring requests for anyone who had an existing request.

Still waiting. Have an open case number. But no notifications. Beginning to feel like it's time to give up

Hang in there! As long as you have an open case number they should follow-up with you.

Last heard from Genesis on 10/13/2025, so called back today.

Rep was very polite and apologized multiple times, could see all the previous notes in the case, and informed me that our case is “on a tracker”, meaning that we will be receiving the adapter within 16 weeks (after the back order has passed). The start of the “tracker” in our case was 10/09/25

SO, we’ll theoretically receive our adapter by mid-February.

Yay.

Sorry to hear. For what it's worth mine was supposed to come by mid november and came about 6 weeks before that.

I just bought a used 2024 performance GV60 with low miles, and am loving it. The previous owner did not get the free NACS adapter. I called the Genesis dealer parts department and asked if I could get the adapter and they said they had one for $402.

I have two questions:

- Any ideas on how I can get the free NACS adapter? Anyplace I can call or email? Any tips on sweet-talking them out of one?

- If I can't get the free adapter, any suggestions for what adapter to buy?

Thanks

1) No. Given how tight they’ve been in doling these out even to first owners, it’s tough to imagine them giving one to a secondhand owner.

2) Genesis has said they won’t warranty damage caused by any aftermarket adapters, though it’s unlikely that would occur.

3) $402 seems WAY too high, and considering that the adapter is on back order, I’m surprised the dealer even has one.

4) In theory, the brand of adapter doesn’t matter. Some have purchased adapters from other automotive brands like Ford, others Lectron or A2Z.

Welcome to the community and congrats on your purchase; you will love the GV60 performance (especially that boost button - use it responsibly).

You may be out of luck with the free NACs adapter campaign. If you didn't have a support ticket in while the campaign was active, I don't think you will be able to get one for free anymore. $402 is insane, and I would NOT purchase from the dealer.

My advice is to purchase the Ford NACS adapter. Link here: https://www.ford.com/product/ford-fast-charging-adapter-nacs-p2999073032

It is currently selling for $226 but it goes on sale (I purchased it for $179). Right now there is a sale going on and if you use discount code REDEEM1025 you can get the adapter for 15% off (brings the cost down to $192). FYSA, I have no financial connection to Ford, or to the discount code. It is advertised on the Ford accessories page.

The reason I am suggesting the Ford adapter is because it is OEM certified and Ford was the first OEM to get approval to use the Tesla Network. Tesla requires you to use OEM certified adapters. Non-OEM adapters are not approved for use on the Tesla SC network but that doesn't stop 3rd party manufacturers from selling them to people anyway (they have to put a disclaimer on their item page that their adapter is NOT approved).

The chances of anything bad happening with a reputable 3rd party adapter (lectron, A2Z, Tesla Tap, etc.) are pretty slim, but in the event something happens, you will be fully liable for any damage to your vehicle AND the Tesla SC.

For me, it was a no-brainer. The Ford adapter went through very rigorous certification testing and is extremely well built and worth the small upcharge over other 3rd party non-approved adapters IMHO.

Good luck and enjoy your new ride!

Thank you both for the helpful replies. I see that there are adapters for the Kia and Hyundai on sale for < $300 new and some for < $200 new. Any reason not to use one of them? I am guessing it is the same part.

Also any thoughts of A2Z vs Ford?

BTW I already love my GV60 after 2 days! Looking for opportunities to drive.

It would seem that a Kia or Hyundai adapter would be a safe bet as well…

Thanks again for all the helpful replies. I scored a genuine adapter on eBay fo $150. It said that it was Hyundai, bu the part number was the same as the one from Genesis, I think: 916B4‑IT000.

I am in Canada.
And I have an open ticket for a request for the NACS adaptor and I sent an email yesterday to Genesis confirming that I would get one before the end of the year.
I just got an email, repliy today saying that they will NOT be providing NACS adaptors free of charge to Genesis customers.
WTF!

They are not providing NACS adapters to customers in Canada or they are saying that you missed the campaign? If they are saying you missed the campaign you should ask to escalate the ticket to a higher up. I was told repeatedly (at least in the US) that if you had an open ticket during when the campaign was active, you would eventually get an adapter.

FYI I was not eligible for the free part because I bought used, but I scored the part for $150 on eBay. I see that there are sellers selling the part (916B4-IT000) for the same price. A lot better than the $402 that the dealer was offering!

I believe it is just a repackaged Lectron Vortex. I recently acquired a MB EQE AMG and they don't supply free adapters but they sell them for $225 in their dealers' parts department. I went to check it out and it is clearly labelled as a Lectron. Amazon has the identical item for $184. I am going to try our Genesis supplied adapter on the AMG at a Supercharger close to our home. I'm sure it will work and if so, we only need one adapter, as it's unlikely we will both be on long road trips at the same time requiring DC charging

If You read my post you will see that I said I had an open ticket for an adapter, which is to say that they agreed I would get one several months ago when we opened the ticket but are now saying that they are not supplying them free of charge at all!

I know they are available to purchase both at the dealer and elsewhere, but it’s just another example of Genesis promising something and not delivering! While I love the car, I would not deal with another vehicle from this company again

I should check this forum more often!

Had no idea that there was an offer for a free adapter. I got the free one for my Rivian, and I have used it on the GV60 with no problems. I got my GV60 over three years ago, brand new when they were restricted to a few states. Thanks Genesis!

I also have several that I got through the Amazon Vine program. After testing a bunch, let me just say BE CAREFUL! Some of them are absolute garbage. Stick with the known brands (Lectron, A2Z). If the store name on AMZ is something like JSAHGDISHADGKGH (i.e. random letters), it is likely crap.

?? I bought my GV60 used and was able to get the free adapter......

fwiw, i got this same mesage--i had an open case with genesis, (have posts upthread detailing this) and was told i'd get one when they started sending them out again, and i had a case number, emails, everything saying that i'd get one when they started sending again.

had totally forgotten about this, and came across this thread last week, sent a message to 'my' caseworker, inquiring as to what happened.

she called me today, very apologetic, and said she was told that the cutoff for requests was september 30th.
okay, fair, but she pointed out to them that we had an open case, and couldn't they send me one, since they had said they would?

no.

she says she asked if maybe they'd give me a gift card for an adopter, since they did say they'd send me one?

no.

so, yeah, genesis with another example of rather awful customer service. offer something, then don't deliver. oh, well.

i'm also dealing with my dealership, currently, who--despite the 'free loaner for three years' (wasn't that the timeframe? i no longer remember) now won't give me a loaner for my upcoming service appointment, which includes a recall and a regular service appointment and some niggling issues (the trunk rattle, a grinding sound with the crystal ball) unless the car is going to be 'down' for 24 hours. i live an hour and a half from the closest genesis dealer, and that makes me fairly unhappy, but what am i going to do? it's clear that the company doesn't honor its promises, so...yeah. i still love the car, but the customer service leaves a LOT to be desired. i'm unlikely to buy another genesis after this experience as well.

that certainly wasn't true in my case...they've now told me to pound sand, despite having an open case. i bought new in 2023.
