  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a CHROME set of Front & Rear Wing Badges for the Genesis Sedan that came with a set of wheel caps that I bought.

I bought the badges when I first got the car so these aren't needed.

$25.00 for both includes shipping..

Pay Pal please...PM if interested..

Hi Steve.

My apologies, I don't need the badges ... But I've got a question.

I just bought a used 2010 4.6 and it's got the wing badge on all the wheel caps, the rear end, and on the steering wheel.

There's no Hyundai badge or nameplate anywhere on the car (only on the key fob's) ... I thought it came this way from the factory. Pretty happy about it too, some folks might think it's a Bentley :-).

Then, I was at the local dealer and I saw what I believe was a 2012 model, and it's got Hyundai badges everywhere. Then I looked at the '09 to '15 PDF brochures I got on line, and you can't find any pics of the wing badge anywhere!

Were these an option, or dealer added accessories?

Thanks for any responses!

In Korea, the 2009-2014 Genesis cars were sold as Genesis BH380, BH460, BH500, etc. The are not sold as Hyundai's. Obviously, they are made by Hyundai, but it is sort of like Lincoln, which is made by Ford (no Ford logos anywhere on a Lincoln). So all the logos and emblems in Korea are Genesis Wings, instead of flying H's.

Hyundai Motor America (HMA) specifically decided to import the Genesis (and later Equus) and sell it as a Hyundai in order to increase the brand reputation of Hyundai in the USA (which took a real beating back in late 1980's and 1990's). Their motto has been "build the brand" so that anyone who looks at a Camry/Accord will also look at Sonata. This was straight from the mouth of HMA CEO (until 2014) John Krafcik.

Some enterprising people who import Korean auto parts go to a Hyundai dealer parts department in South Korea and buy the wings that are OEM on the Korean version of Genesis and import them to the USA and sell them in the USA on eBay or their own websites. This caught on very quickly and most owners swapped the H's with the Wings. After a while many dealers started to do that also, even though they buy the wings from same place we do (and not from HMA where they get all the other OEM parts for USA versions). HMA has officially frowned upon this activity by dealers, but not much they can do legally since dealers are independent business.

Starting with 2015 model, HMA sort of gave up and started using the Genesis wings as OEM emblems on the front, steering wheel, hubcaps, etc, but they still kept the Flying H on the trunk, since it is sold as a Hyundai in the USA. So for 2015 and beyond, owners/dealers only have to replace one emblem on the trunk (a fairly simple process).

Pretty much everything above also applies to Canada, even though Hyundai Canada is technically separate from HMA.

I added everything..

And I will say it makes the car look a lot better..

The only thing I haven't done yet is the steering wheel wings..

I'm looking for a good set to stick over the flying " H " ... Other than that..Mark pretty much covered it all..:)

Enjoy..
