  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.3T Genesis G70 Oil and Filter change (how-to)

Looking to make your Genesis unique? Look no further than KDM Warehouse - where orders are shipped immediately!
Potential G70 buyer here…it’s on my short list for a new daily.

After reading all of the comments/complaints regarding over-torqued oil plugs and spillage on the RWD cross brace, I was wondering why no one suggested a Fumoto drain plug with a nipple?

Every owner is free to do whatever he feels best for his car. I myself have had zero problems with the simple drain plugs. I work on my own cars.

To me, these things just add complexity where none is warranted.

I also like having full flow out of the plug drain with no restrictions as it helps with getting more of the settling "gunk" from the bottom of the pan. Doing my first oil change today for my RWD 3.3, hopefully getting to that drain plug won't be to much of a PITA and I can control the splash zone, wish me luck :)

Got the oil change done without a drop on the cross-member, used a shorty funnel held above the drain hole to divert the oil into the drain pan, worked like a charm!

The low profile 27mm socket worked fine, couldn't get much of a swing w/ the ratchet through that access hole but got it done.

Good suggestion about the magnetic drain plug, glad I ordered one prior as the current plug was rounded off quite a bit. Also good suggestion about the crowfoot wrench to get torque on the drain plug, again, worked like a charm!

And my DIY OSB ramps, much stronger than those pressed steel ones and do well w/ lower cars.

Wasn't a huge fan of the way the OEM oil filter snugs down on that inner pipe, had to twist it a bit to get it to seat down but it worked.
Ended up using exactly 7 qts to get the the top of the full mark on the dipstick.

I have one on the car. Has its advantages and disadvantages.
Works for me as I usually have to change the oil every 5-6 weeks.
