  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Disagree with this review...some incorrect facts...and stupid statements. Author lost me in the beginning about the utterly idiotic comment about the yoga people walking by. Like either of them knew what it was.

2019 Genesis G70: The Road & Track Test

This is probably the answer to the vent question from the other day - "Even so, the G70 is saddled with that perennial sporty shorthand of luxury-car designers, the fake fender vent.".

^ if they are referring to the front fender hockeystick, it's not fake. it is functional. how functional is a different matter, but it is still functional nonetheless.

Which is 100% proven false. They’re talking out their asses.

Could have been , don't know. Just remember there were differing opinions on the subject.

Genesis execs even stated it was 100% functional on video. So R&T needs to stop spreading BS.

^ yeah, the hockeysticks being functional is not open to debate. they are functional with real venting capabilities.

now, HOW functional they are is more debatable. but that's a separate question and not what the R&T review was talking about.

Not main stream by any means but a decent review...

Road n Track is clearly low life scum. Their article on G70 was full of lies and deceit throughout: incorrect 0-60 times, fake vents that are real, bull about yoga chicks who walked by them with trash talk (think about that - you know they made that up). Clearly they have something against Genesis - maybe no ads in their pathetic magazine. It really annoys me that if you go to most search engines and type in G70 their propaganda website comes up first. But even more enraging, if you ask for most recent articles, their smear campaign still comes up first with a recent date even though the article is several months old and has not been changed in any way. This confirms to their willingness to lie on a regular basis.
Well on the other hand, maybe their all out smear tactics will allow me to buy my G70 earlier because the dealerships will start giving big discounts from the MSRP sooner. So maybe my enemy is my friend. (Dwight Shrute logic)

Yeah the yoga mat thing is probably fake and the tone of the article seemed too dismissive considering how little they had to complain about the driving besides the engine tone, but I wouldn't go so far to say it's propaganda because of a smear campaign or ads or something. It's more likely just internal bias than some conspiracy theory.

Yeah, I suspect this is true. Remember, these people are writers, first and foremost. They probably enjoy expressing themselves with a bit of flair and in the process, overstate their opinions, complete with biases. There are lots of people who know a lot about cars. To get hired by an outfit like R&T, you need both to know a lot and be able to write in a way that engages readers. Injecting a bit of drama and controversy may come along with that.

But I don't think writing that way makes what the writers are saying a conspiracy or a "pack of lies." I'd prefer a more technical, less literary approach but that's pretty hard to find in any car magazine I've ever encountered. The R&T folks were pretty up front about saying that the timed tests were conservative because of weather conditions. The comment about the "fake vent" harkens back to the conversations we've had here as to whether the fender vents are merely functional or both functional and effective -- a matter of interpretation (although "fake" does seem to be an overstatement). The Yoga class attendees may simply have been who was actually walking by at the time. Why are people assuming that it's something the writer made up? And the assumption that women going to a yoga class are necessarily clueless about cars actually seems to be indicative of more bias than anything the R&T article had in it. Sometimes, it's just easier to assume anything that doesn't conform to our own opinions or values is somehow fake. But that's an assumption that might merit more critical examination.

We don't have to agree with their conclusions. It's by no means the definitive review of the G70 but just one piece of an accumulating image that will emerge more fully as more and more outlets comment on the car. I would actually be pretty shocked if every reviewer came to exactly the same conclusions on every point. But their presenting an assessment that might not align with our personal views doesn't mean that they just made everything up or that they are part of an anti-Genesis conspiracy of some sort. Car magazines, if they have any overriding bias, want to keep on the good side of companies that might eventually advertise in their pages. And the G70, as a performance-oriented sedan, is just the sort of car that is likely to want to reach R&T readers at some point.

Sadly, assumptions that don't support your specific beliefs and, yes, your biases as being fake is all too prevalent in our society today.

Not a review, but a snippet from a voter for NACTOY.

DETROIT — Last week, most of the 57 jurors who will vote for North American Car, Truck and Utility of the year gathered at a hotel east of Ann Arbor and spent three days test driving about 70 vehicles.

My Automotive News colleague Sharon Silke Carty and I, along with the rest of the jurors will soon whittle that number down to nine. The finalists will be announced next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and the winners will be named Jan. 14 during media days at the Detroit auto show.

I have a pretty good idea which contenders have the chops to make the final cut. This year's semifinalists are strong, but there were some surprises — good and bad.

Now for some good surprises: There is no doubt in my mind that Hyundai has arrived as one of the world's elite automakers. The Genesis G70 sport sedan is a bona fide threat to BMW, Audi and Mercedes. The 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 is a rocket booster of an engine. The chassis is firm. The steering and brakes are dialed in perfectly.

Despite the copycat German influenced interior, the G70 was the best car I have tested this year.

Why these three vehicles will get my NACTOY votes

While the interior may have a Germanesque-bent to it, don't think it "copies" any of the Germans (am saying this as someone who really doesn't care for the aesthetics).

As for Savagegeese, think he'll like the RWD 3.3T better than the HTRAC he drove up in Canada.

MY CONSPIRACY THEORY MANIFESTO

Are you a professor? You sound like my colleagues at my University, locked up helplessly in a white ivory tower. Do you also believe 95% of Politicians don't take bribes and that journalists rarely tell lies to sensationalize. I guess its all true that the G70 functional side vent is practically the same as a fake snorkel hood scoop staring at me through the windshield. I didn't mention but half of the gaggy outlandish statements such as "The fanciful grille is also marred by a clear plastic rectangle required for adaptive cruise control. Adding a front license plate will compound the clutter." There were a few compliments in the article, all followed immediately by backhanded insults.

When I read that magazine article it was so far off from the thirty other articles I have read (as well as videos watched). Not all of them gushed on with compliments, but none of the others made one after another after another bogus statements. I do not feel this way about any other magazine and this is not the first bogus article I have read in Road and Track magazine.
I guess that you think I am a conspiracy theory character that has just imagined the German bread and butter advertising over the years and lack of Genesis, Kia, or Hyundai ads. Certainly this would have no influence on these lovely dregs of life.
Shame on me!!!
Mark up another righteous victory for Devellis the honorable.

P.S. You know Im just having a little fun with you. I really don't even feel that strongly about this entire subject. I really could care less, but I feel that I have been challenged to a duel. I would challenge LarryMG1 for calling me fake biased, however his picture of a cute grim reaper is highly intimidating me.
