  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis models to be built in Alabama

In my case, it's just a curiosity, not an obsession. I'd have no hesitation in having a car built in either plant, or Alabama. (Well, after a few months of production in the case of Alabama :D)

I wish I knew. I only know that someone popped up in the past year and made a post about their car being manufactured in Asan. That surprised the heck out of me because the only cars previously assembled at Asan were FWD vehicles (and in fact, FWD vehicles on the same platform). I am pretty sure that that person had a 2016, but I can't find the post to confirm. Then I remembered the post from Nikgen where he mentioned that his new 2016 was made in Asan (Nikgen previously had a 2015 that he traded in for a 2016).

I did not trade in my 2015 for my 2016, nor did I buy or lease my 2016. I'm not allowed to post any more than that - but I suspect you can connect the dots ;).

My 2015 was built in Ulsan while my 2016 was built in Asan. Both had/have rattling sunroofs (a major design defect, imho). However, my Asan-built 2016 also had hood/right front fender alignment issues that created panel seams with gaps double the factory spec tolerance. So, to the naysayer, I'd say assembly plant can be a concern as quality can be quite different - especially with early production at a new plant.

I live in Montgomery AL and the local TV station reported a couple of days ago that the genesis sedan will be produced there; no timetable reported.

According to the article quoted, the next generation one. Maybe 2019.

I imagine that these Alabama cars will come standard with chewing tobacco juice spit stains.

It will hard to see the stains, since the exterior and interior colors will only be available in crimson red.

I bet..in time....they do a rebadge on some lower end models
Think Camry and Lexus ES

Those models will be built alongside the Hyundai's.....just like Honda and Toyota do it

I dont for a second think they are going to build their flagship car in the US

Seems unlikely based on Hyundai's statements regarding all RWD dedicated platforms for Genesis. They are not even sharing platforms on SUV's, which would have been an easy and fast way to enter the market.
