Wow, what a fun thread fellas!
Thanks Beefer for posting the JD Power study, that IMO is very current and relevant. CR I take with a grain of salt because my experience with some of the cars they rate is vastly different. The 15+ year report has some value but means little to me. My interest is in the reliability etc of a new car now (maybe past 5 years to current) not 15+ years ago. So many factors at play that are hard to measure, brand loyalty etc. Also, some brands have fallen off their game a little. My buddy has an older Jeep Cherokee with 285K+ miles and it still looks new, it sure isn't on any list. My '87 Vette (Chevette that is) I put insane miles on, never let me down it sure as hell ain't on any "good" list anywhere. I do however like reading these reports, ratings etc and deciding what's important to me.
