  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello...first time poster.

In my area there is a 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD that is listed for about $41K.

This is a stripped down car...however it would be a huge upgrade from my Subaru Outback, which is a great car, but very utilitarian!

Opinions wanted...is it good to go for a stripped down version, or are all the bobbles worth it?

FYI, here is the dealership posting: http://www.maplehillauto.com/New-2015-Hyundai-Genesis-38-Kalamazoo-MI/vd/21467963

What would be a good price on this particular car? True Car is useless in my area for the Genesis.

thanks in advance.

If you can afford it, the bobbles are worth it (imho)!

+1

$41K is a pathetic price. Start negotiating at least 7% below MSRP. For cars and real estate, everything is negotiable, so don't take the internet price seriously.

There is nothing wrong with the Base Trim model if you don't want/need the other stuff. If it really embarrasses you to drive the Base Trim model, just wear a paper bag over your head.

The base trim is the best value in the long run especially when you consider resale value. I will only buy with all the bells and whistles but that is personal preference and I know it's going to cost me. The bells and whistles depreciate very quickly.

Plus the base model is not all that base...lots of standard options over other cars...many of which are expensive upgrades on others...

I am just trying to figure out what I would miss the most. The sun roof is nice, but I have had one on previous cars, and hardly used it.

I don't drive on expressways often, and doubt I need the lane assist.

it is just tough...

Could a person legitimately try to walk on the lot and offer to pay $40K, taxes (6%) and fees included, and strike a deal?

A base could be had for $39 and less, but you have to expand your search beyond the local Hyundai lot.

The nice thing about a base Genesis is that it doesn't look like it doesn't have any of the additional options on it. There are no additional badges, chrome gadgets or pieces of trim that distinguish the base models from the fully optioned models. There are very minor differences on the exteriors if you know where to look, but nothing obvious, so you still get a great looking vehicle.

The seats are awesome in the upper trim level and the stereo in the Ultimate is phenomenal - but not worth financial hardship if money is tight!
