  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis on sale date?

I think it's good for "Hyundai" and "Genesis Motors" - as brands - to have done the midcycle refresh a little early considering THEY (the brands) need to differentiate the "Hyundai Genesis Sedan" from the "Genesis G80". It needed to be done. But you're 100% right - it doesn't do anything good for the resale value of the Hyundai Genesis Sedan. The thing is - Hyundai Motor Company and Genesis Motors need to do what's best for their future - to continue offering us excellent vehicles. It's a little bit of a catch 22...

Solid points, and it is actually smart of them to do the facelift along with introduction of new engine and the the Genesis brand. Otherwise if Hyundai wait until the 4th model year, it will just create more confusions.

I am not sure if I like the new design better, I will have to withhold judgement until I see them in the flesh.

Though another interesting catch 22 is that for people unaware of the Genesis Sedan, they probably wouldn't know the G80 is a rebadged Hyundai. For these whom even vaguely remember the Genesis Sedan commercials, the minor facelift isn't really gonna fool anyone.

Anyways, I can't wait to check out the G90 in person. Wonder if they will arrive the dealership in the summer or fall.

The new design is so similar to the current that most people won't even notice the difference. I think Hyundai is just trying to give the people who:

1. Buy from their new brand first
2. Spend the extra money for the G80 over the Genesis Sedan

...a little something to say, "Hey. Thank you!"... But most people aren't going to notice the difference. I have a 2015 and while I DO notice these types of little things - it really won't bother me. It's such a small change that I'm okay with it.

People will definitely relate the G80 to the Genesis Sedan - especially considering how many are badged with the extremely similar winged emblem...

Ive been told the G90's will start rolling in late July / Early August. Not sure if this is true, since Ive seen video there are some G90's on tour to the dealers. I'm sure they are touring the high volume dealers only.

So, it is effectively now July and there still do not seem to be any US reviews or blogs on this car. Odd if the sale date is late this month or August? I mean there does not seem to be much buzz on this model which is surprising if sales are mere weeks away.

Advertising will start once the cars are available. They don't want to have ads running with people going to dealerships only to find the car they want cannot be purchased.

Just got a call from my dealership. They are taking orders for the G90. Only V6's are available and only in 4 colors. White, Black, Silver and Gray from what I gather. V8's are not available and the Hyundai Rep didn't have a date for that. At least this is good news. They must be here in the US if they are taking orders. Stay tuned !!
