  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I bought my Genesis in Oct. 05, it's a 6cyl. what a great car, I traded in a 05 XG350L with 35K miles.
This Genesis is much better. However it has lost a few things the XG350L had.

lololololol

Tom Z,

Like what? I had a 2002 XG350L, and can't think of anything missing . . . (that isn't on the Genesis)

I also traded in an 05 XG350L and I can't think of a thing I lost going to a Genesis.

Hi,

Ok, I typed 05 instead of 08, my XG350L had a fold down rear seat, front wheel drive, wipers could be lifted up without opening hood, trunk would pop open with inside latch, my 09 Genesis has these missing. BTW did anyone take the Genesis survey online from JD Powers? I just finished it & they are paying $125.00 for doing it.

I assume you were randomly selected as part of statistical survey, and that it is not open to just anyone?

Not sure how I was picked, I received a letter from JD Powers about 2 months ago asking if I wanted to participate, with them offering that kind of $$ I jumped at it.

I believe there is only 1 car in this class that has a fold down rear seat, which I hear the reason for not having a fold down seat is for structural rigidy and also good luck finding a front wheel drive car in this car class.

In order for the results of the survery to be scientifically valid, they have to pick a sample at random. If some people reject doing the survey, then it hurts the statistical validity of the sample. They don't want the sample to be biased, for example, if there was a correlation between not liking the car and not wanting to do the survey, so that is why they offer the money.

If the survey was open to whomever wanted to go to the website, it would not be statistically valid.

Wouldn't the Lexus ES350 qualify? It is a little smaller, but is considered to be a comparable car.

As far as not having front wheel drive, I would prefer that they used the same as Audi, the Quattro (sp?) The rear wheel drive isn't much good on ice covered roads which we in the northeast have had alot of lately. I was spinning on ice, even shifted to the shiftronic with no help, had to get a neighbor to help push me off. Never had any problems with front wheel drive on ice/snow.

Wipers can be lifted by moving them into the service position. Just hold the wiper control up when the car is turned of. The resting positon for the wipers on the Genesis obviously reduces drag and noise which is a great feature.

Cheers

Thomas

Yes, that is true. However, Hyundai said they will introduce a folding seat configuration in the future. In addition, they will also incorporate a 5.0L V8 and 8 speed auto tranny in the future as well.

Welcome aboard, Tom! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis!

Tom, one of the HUGE selling points for me is the rear wheel drive, sure the ice and snow does come around but there are more days of the year when the pavement is dry, that's when I enjoy driving.

So . . . . if a 5 liter V8 is coming, and a fold down rear seat, should I wait to purchase my Genesis, I'm actually going to Automax Hyundai in Norman, OK to buy one tonight.

Checked my insurance, I'm going from a 2001 Lincoln LS $596 every 6 months to a 2009 Genesis $1200 every 6 months. Any advice?

I'm with you...trading in my 2000 LS V8 (154,000 miles - served me well) and picking up a Saphire Blue 4.6 with tech tomorrow night. I've really loved driving the LS - one of Lincoln's better experiments - and hoping the Genesis can give me the same joy. Suspension issues be damned!
