  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis owners with black paint - any regrets?

My 09 Genny is Black. I recently found the kit in the link below at Autozone. Haven't tried it yet, but will this weekend (weather permitting). Mods, if this is considered spam, PLEASE delete it!

Let us know how this works. I'd be particularly interested in their claim about removing swirl marks - I've tried all kinds of stuff with poor results. I'd be pleasantly surprised to learn that this stuff works.

In my experience you need to use a Dual-Action orbital polisher to effectively remove swirl marks. Doing by hand is both very taxing and hard to do well.

I have not used Turtle wax before (this looks to be a better higher-end product than what one normally sees from them) but my guess is that in conjunction with a DA polisher that it should do the job if the swirl marks are not too bad.

Cheers,
Newman

I love it, but I avoid puddles like the plague. Winter is a sad time for me, cause as soon as it’s clean it’s dirty again.

I’m lucky that I have a detailer in my office tower, so it gets washed a minimum 4 times a month...you really can’t beat the elegance of a clean black car.

My black on black Genesis looks awesome most times - other times, just need to take some time to clean it. But, I will buy same combo on next one

I am resigned to loving black cars, currently owning two - Black R-Spec and black Volvo XC60 T6. Living in Minnesota, they are much more difficult to keep clean than in in mild climates. The new definition of insanity.

No regrets with my 2012 Black with saddle interior. I think Black looks classy on a luxury car. I'm very fond of the saddle interior and get compliments on it.

If you wash your car weekly (yourself or at a carwash) and you are not anal, get Black.

If you're anal get the Titanium with Saddle. That was my runner up choice and I think it looks great.

I used the Black Box on my car for the first time over the weekend. REALLY impressive I must say. Also really time consuming. I would have bought charcoal gray if it were available, but I'm happy with the black.

Black's all I ever buy. First car was a black Saab 900 Turbo. Second car was a repeat of the first, just 5 years later, after I'd worn out the first Saab. Third one was a black Volvo S70. Motorcycle was a black Suzuki Katana 750. Now it's a black Genny.
