If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good evening,

How far have some of you taken your Genesis so far? Anybody pass the 150k mark? 200k mark? Further????

Any major issues along the way?

Thanks!

2011 4.6 v8 tech pkg. purchased new Sept. 2010. 167,000 miles. no issues, runs, drives and rides like new. Front Brakes lasted past 130k miles; still has original rear brakes. All scheduled maintenance is done as per the Hyundai recommendations plus shorter mileage intervals on oil/filter and transmission services. BTW, There are at least two other threads on "how many miles"

Oh is there? I tried searching for one first. I failed!

Let this thread die then.

Thanks!

Not to sound disrespectful, but, homeofstone lives on the road. Those are not typical around town driving with a trip here and there type miles.
There IS a difference.

Shagnat is right. Homeofstone and I are what are considered "high milers" in that we drive 30,000+ miles per year, in my case at least 80% highway miles at a comfortable cruising speed. I have almost 220,000 miles on my '07 Sonata and it still drives beautifully. I expect to get the same type of performance out of the '11 Genesis I just purchased.

It's important to keep in mind that cruising at highway speed pampers a car like almost nothing else, especially if you're the only driver and you're easy on it. The same car subjected to a daily D.C. or L.A. commute might only get half the miles and have twice the repair bills. That being said, 150,000+ miles on any car is impressive when it's still driving like new, and speaks a lot for the quality. No amount of highway miles is going to do that for a poorly made vehicle.

I concur with everything that is being said about highway miles. I have no problem purchasing a vehicle with high miles that was used extensively on our highways. If that vehicle also has a stout record of service documents, I'll have zero reservations.

I have an '09 3.8 sedan with 218K miles. I bought it with 201K from a guy who traveled about 40K a year in this car. I love the way it still rides. Only a few minor issues. One, the stereo muting out. I have read this happens with many of these. I go into the admin menu and reboot and it's all good. The interior dome lights (LED) don't work most of the time (random). But other than that, I love the car.

Do you have copies of the service history for the vehicle? I would be curious to see at what intervals certain maintenance was performed. Certain items are recommended to be performed at different mileage marks depending upon the dealer.

I don't have any service history. Honestly, I don't know what the last owner did or didn't do.

How do you access this admin menu and reboot?

Do you have the system with the knob that controls functions that is doen on the center consule?

I have the touch screen set up

Thanks

Had 2009 4.6 Genny, new. Put 160,000 on it, gave it to my son when I got 2013 Equus Ultimate. The car now has about 180,000. Only problem was I had to replace a gas tank, damaged by sharp metal on road, and Sirus radio could never be programed. Always had Mobil 1 0-30 every 7,500 miles, and other major maint. items. Somehow, Carfax captured all this, and I have about 4 pages of Carfax info on maintenance performed. You might try to see if they have this info on your car.

How do you like the Equus compared to the Genesis?

do you still have your Genesis I am looking at a Genesis g90 coming from a Honda motor I expect 300 plus I have an 03 Acura TL with over 300,000 and still runs new that's what my son drive

Traded our 2011 Genesis 4.6 after driving it over 220,000 miles. Best car we have ever owned and that includes Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Acura and a dog Oldsmobile.

I have a 2012 Genesis 3.8 it has 114,800 miles. I've been using full synthetic oil since I purchased with 27k on it. What recommendations do y'all have that I can do to keep it running smooth. I'm getting my brakes replaced today and I was told that it's recommended that I get a transmission oil flush and cooling system flush and also change the fuel filter according to the manufactures schedule. Any advice on these? Thank you for your time and your knowledge.

Those all sound like wise services. I don't bother with synthetic oil since I change it circa 3,500.

What about your AC?

im late:
I am 207566 miles. Since ownership (2nd owner), INFO screen went out (under warranty), driver side - passenger doorlock stop working (under warranty), and now I have small flex pipe leak (makes it loud), other than that, the most RELIABLE CAR EVER owned. I do all my oil and other main.
easy...

2009 4.6 sedan here with 163,500 miles with the original brakes. I rotate tires and oil changes at 5,000 miles intervals running 5w30 Mobil1 Extended Service. Thinking about having all the rotors and pads replaced my next tire rotation. This car has been the best car we've ever owned. I had to replace the cabin fan blower motor at 150,000 miles is the only failure so far. Car is still peppy and the oil checks in the safe zone on the dipstick at oil change time. I'm the 2nd owner of the car. It had 17,000 miles on it in 2013 when I bought the car. Starting to notice a knocking noise from the engine only after the car has been driven till temperature reaches normal and at idle. Turn the engine off and wait about 10 minutes, and its quiet. No knocking noise. Wonder if anyone has experienced this with their car?

Thanks Steve

Many mechanics recommend not doing a flush for the transmission if haven't done so before 100k miles, as flushing at this juncture may end up causing more problems.

But would suggest doing some reading up on this, as transmissions have changed over the years, so may not apply to the Genesis 8 spd.

Also would depend on what type of driving you do (a lot of stop-starts placing more stress on the transmission) and how much longer you are planning to keep the vehicle.

But most people I know never bothered to flush their transmission and have had vehicles for 150k to over 200k miles.
