  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys.

Seems like a lot of us are looking to re-badge the trunk lids of our new Genesis's. While the eight page thread on the subject is very helpful, it's not terribly straight forward.

In the interest of making it easier for all of us I've posted an [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6l9hfr-J64"]instructional video[/ame] to show how its done.

Apologies in advance for the shaky camera work and mumbling narration. ;)

Enjoy!

Thanks for the excellent video. Now I know exactly what and how to do!

Excellent job! My movie would have shown me getting through a mile of dental floss - but I got the same results!

I can't believe I paid the dealership $195 to rebadge my car! If I would have seen your video, I would have done it myself!!!! It is really nice of you to make this for new owners.

I used dental floss and it worked fine. Had to go through a couple of yards but it worked without scratching.

I have plenty of line from my "Weed Eater". That will work.

I started out with dental floss, but switched to a 3-4" plastic putty knife (with hair dryer) that you can get at any hardware or discount store for about a $1.00. Make sure you pick one that is thin and smooth on at least one side.

Get rid of the regular dental floss and get the "Glide" floss. It didn't break for me and I didn't use more than 2 feet of floss.

I actually started out with glide dental floss. The problem with the dental floss or string procedure is that you need two hands, and I think it works best if you use the hair dryer at the same time (so you would need a third hand or someone to help). That is why I switched to the plastic putty knife, which would slide under the badge, and also allow me to use a "prying" technique when necessary.

 Really?

Besides, there are so many wing emblems out there (Aston Martin, Mini, Bentley, Harley Davidson, Triumph Motorcycles, etc.) that more closely resemble the Genesis wings IMO.

Well perhaps I will change my mind about the Winged Emblem. A couple days ago, while parked downtown, a guy came up to me and said, "I see you have a new Hyundai"!
Had he said 'a new Genesis', I would have been happy, but he said 'a new Hyundai'.

So, I got to thinking that if the price is right, I just may get me one of these Winged Emblems (for the rear trunk [tail gate assembly]) and the above vidio gives the Hyundai part number. I'm the type guy that does not like to buy mail order, and KAI says that the emblem is not available outside of Korea, but I talked to Richard, the great parts guy at Orlando Hyundai, and he checked the part number I gave him, and its true. Although it is a good part number, the part is not yet available, YET, but he told me that it will be available starting in mid April. Once I return from my trip out to ElPaso/Phoenix/Rosewell, in late April, if the price is right, I will order one, just so that people will know this is not a normal Hyundai, but a Genesis.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this...it greatly gives me confidence to do it myself.
Again...thanks for sharing.

Excellent movie folks. Took me about 20 mintues to due. It would be great to see a movie on the front lid badge?

I see that unless i want to cut holes in front hood i will have to grind down the posts and get a center line and ensure that it is plumb and level.

Thanks so much for posting this. Looks like a slam dunk change even for a bonehead like me. :D
I've got my rear badge on order and will be looking forward to ditching the "Flying H"

anyone remove the genesis and 3.8/4.6 emblems? I always like the "stealth" look...are there posts/holes as well?

Thank you! I just added this to our "Videos" database.. :)
