If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you do some searching on the gear ratios on the 2010 model Ford Taurus SHO you will see how incredibly short they are. No wonder it is able to move that tank heavy 4340+ lb vehicle to 60 mph in 5.2 sec. The gearing is short in the low end and gets a bit taller towards the top end. Unfortunately most people have no clue what made the car to pick up speed so well.:o Genesis 4.6 takes to 60 in 5.3 sec, now, that's the 2009 model 375 hp version. And it RAPES the SHO starting at 100 mph. Genesis 4.6 runs like a BMW 335i and Mercedes Benz C55 AMG at highway speeds. Talk about some muscle.

SHO has about 10 less horsepower and 17 lb-ft more torque than the Genesis.

SHO is a bit faster than the Genesis from the start but the Genesis closes the gap at around 100 mph in acceleration. At 120 mph the Genesis 4.6 is faster by 1.1 sec and whopping 2.3 sec at 130 mph. Tested by Car&Driver for both cars.

And it is apparent how one of my members PINGGOLF beat the SHO at higher speeds. See his video below -- [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp-GfSk_QJE"]YouTube- 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 vs 2010 Ford Taurus SHO (EcoBoost)[/ame] :welcome:

As for the braking performance;

70-0 mph
SHO - 174 ft
Genesis 4.6 - 164 ft

I am forecasting that the 2010+ model 385 hp version to get to 5.1~ 5.2 sec 0-60 and around 21.5 sec at 130 mph. In addition to 10 hp bump, the engine breathing has been improved and the intake and exhaust valves are larger, meaning better performance.

And it [Genesis] RAPES the SHO starting at 100 mph.
No mature person should care about that unless they are driving the Genesis in a race venue (closed track).

Or bench racing, which is what this thread is all about.

You need to lighten up Mark. Don't get yourself up too tight. This thread is to unveil what Genesis Sedan 4.6 is capable of at high speeds in the acceleration. It is faster than most other competitors. Some people in the forum will definitely find this reference useful. If you don't like it or have no interest in it don't bother posting.:o

So when, exactly, are you going to purchase your very own Genesis?

Unfortunately, the rest of us have to share the roads with people who do drive their cars at 100 mph on public roads. I knew people who were murdered by such stunts, and I don't find it very amusing.

The question I raised is, if you are not going to accelerate from 0-100 mph, then why would you care how long it takes? If you do drive at 100 mph on a public road, you are a criminal who should be locked up in jail to protect society.

Govenors on all cars at 75? 395 hp- what an unuseful waste and excessive fuel consumer!
Seriously, Be careful & be safe out there.

my modified '09 can reach 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, verified on an abandoned air strip- for those of you who are speed vigilantes..... LOL!

Reckless driving laws vary from state to state. Depending on where you are clocked at 100 mph or more, you could go straight to jail.

I am more concerned with the tail-gaters who hang on my ass when I am going 80 mph in the middle lane!

The jolly souls doing 100+ don't bother me as much.

I am concerned about tail-gaters also. But I knew someone who was t-boned by two cars racing on a city street at 100 mph. He was decapitated (both racers survived with minor injuries).

"According to the L.A. Times, about 100 people per year die from illegal street racing in California alone. Note that many of these deaths are bystanders and other drivers, not participants of the street race."

This is great! Tell you what, just get outta my way...and stay in the right lane! :)

You think that getting t-boned and decapitated by street racers doing 100 mph is great? Or was it the 100 people killed in CA alone each year (probably 1000 nationally) by street racers that is great? Which one?

Look at how many humans are killed by domestic violence or murder or drunk driving (J.H.C.), this sentence could go forever. No one thinks unintended death is great. This is a part of life. Maybe I can only speak for myself, but when I'm doing 140+ in my Genesis, no one is around and it's on a deserted road with no concern except my own safety. Yup, there's plenty of examples when I have hit the throttle.....hit 100mph, and slowed back to the speed limit in a matter of seconds. If a person decides to do this in a school zone with cancer patients and amputies, FINE, but I dought this happens often, except what you read in media.

Relax

Every party has a pooper tha's why we invited you.

I've seen so many ill natured comments on this forum, some directed at one or two threads that I initiated....

It is soooo easy to complain , challenge yourself and say something positive.

If you can't, the threads that you pollute would be better off without comment at all.

I originally responded because I honestly did not understand why anyone would want to know how fast the Genesis accelerated 0-100 mph or care whether it was faster than an SHO. I certainly can understand 0-60 or even 0-80 time, but no one should be driving on a public street at 100 mph, so it simply made no sense to me. As to why I would complain about such things, it is because many innocent people are killed each year from illegal street racing. It seems rather shallow to me that just because no one that you personally know has been killed by such criminal behavior, and that you are trying to make me the villain for mentioning it.

I guess you are also still sore just because I mentioned that your post about a Genesis sedan police car was "old news" and previously posted several times? I think you are a little thin-skinned and just being vindictive. It could have been worse, I could have asked you to UTFSE next time, but I actually restrained myself.

I hadn't noticed that it was you who responded to my other thread - I had completely forgotten about that. Maybe you are projecting?
Now that I think about it, many of the comments I frown on bear your signature.
Thanks for pointing that out and thank you backing up a comment made from another member of this forum:

BTW,
I UTFSE more than you can imagine

Hopefully, we are all allowed to decide for ourselves which threads we frown on. I already mentioned this one, and why I frown on driving at 100 mph on public roads, but I do believe you have a right to post whatever you want. I would request the same courtesy from you.

Maybe coincidently (or maybe not) I would also probably frown on your thread about carrying a gun while driving, but I didn't even respond to that that thread, so I did restrain myself that time.

We all here drive awesome cars. We each picked a winner. That we have in common. As individuals we should feel the love- share the love! Let's argue more on Lexus & BMW sites!
