  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 3.8 premium 2012 Genesis with 39,000 on the odometer. This has happened twice to me after I have been driving on the interstate, and come off the exit ramp to a stop light. The car shudders and acts like it is not getting any gas, or that it wants to shut off right there on the ramp. It will do this for about 5 seconds and then idles normal. The last time this happened was when I was coming back from Florida, and the traffic suddenly stopped in front of me. The car came to a stop, and shuddered just like it did when it came off the exit ramp. I am due for an oil change in 500 miles so I just need to have a little knowledge when I talk to the service manager. Thank you in advance for your expertise. I still love the car, and still get people who tell me what a beautiful car the genesis is.

I would clarify that the engine shudders and not the Genesis (meaning the car itself). This appears to be a case of the engine management not allowing the engine to idle properly.

Most likely a simple ECM update. Why wait for 500 more miles? Get it to the dealer.

May be an air leak going into the air intake after MAF meter.

When you get in for an oil change, have the tech check the TPS (Throttle position sensor). This is a part that infrequently has issues on the V6 Genesis, and the symptoms you describe are that of a malfunctioning TPS, although usually there is a check engine light on.
