Had my key programmed yesterday , cost me an hours labor.

15 mins afterward I get the low battery alert, stopped by battieries plus and brought every CR2412 battery they had

Man it is so nice to put that thing in your wallet and not worry about carrying keys.

exactly, i was on the fence about it until on day i left my car in DC, got a ride home and came back they next day for the car and forgot the key, I NEVER FORGET MY WALLET which had the card key for my mazda so I had to get it after the 80 dollar uber ride back home for my keys

Is that Canada? I don't believe that a keycard comes with USA models of Genesis (only Equus).

Yes I'm in Vancouver Canada , the Genesis up here has awd as well. 420 hp and awd

Yep, in Canada the key card on the V8 is standard. That being said we only have 1 model of V8 here which is AWD and loaded. Another nice touch in Canada is the Suede headliner. As mentioned, the key card is something all cars should have, so darn convenient and this way you never forget your wallet.

I'm wondering if this something just for Genesis sedan and Equus. Is there is something different in this card that makes it racist to other models.

It was a joke but my question still stand, I'm wondering if the card can only be used for the Genesis and not the other models. I bought the 2017 Santa Fe Sport with tech package and I'll probably give it a try and see if this works.

You would have to get it programmed by a dealer.

IMO, it is an expensive novelty item and not all that practical, because the batteries don't last long and they last thing I want is to have problems with my key when away from home. I have to carry a keychain anyway, so more convenient to put a keyfob on my keychain, than to have a Card in my wallet.

What? The battery lasts at least a year and as for novelty no way. Best thing since sliced bread if you ask me. It resides in my wallet and basically I never have a key to carry around. If I get in the car and it says no key when I attempt to start It reminds me I forgot my wallet.

As for problems with your key, it cannot happen as you simply push the start button with your remote and the car starts just like the fob you have. I know this works as I have tried it even with no battery in the fob. You need to get with the times and chuck that useless outdated keychain.

You got me about the battery, I was really thinking it shouldn't be any different than the regular key fob if not the same.

The only thing I'm wondering is if the genesis frequency is different than other models because virtually that's the only thing preventing this from happening. I'm gonna ask my dealer if they can find out about that and then pay for the card.

If you keep the card in the car in the garage at night, the battery doesn't last nearly as long.

Same thing with the standard fob.

The fob for my nine year old Sonata is still working with the original battery. Of course, it's not as chatty as the one for the Genesis.
