  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Smart Key Card

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

What? The battery lasts at least a year and as for novelty no way. Best thing since sliced bread if you ask me. It resides in my wallet and basically I never have a key to carry around. If I get in the car and it says no key when I attempt to start It reminds me I forgot my wallet.

As for problems with your key, it cannot happen as you simply push the start button with your remote and the car starts just like the fob you have. I know this works as I have tried it even with no battery in the fob. You need to get with the times and chuck that useless outdated keychain. ;)

I second this. A few times I have forgotten my wallet but now my car reminds me that I forgot it. Mine is about 8 months old and the battery still working.

I absolutely love my key card. I don't carry keys period because my home door locks are keypads, so when I saw this was available for the Genesis I was sold. I carry a small front pocket card wallet and it fits fine. I did have to replace the battery after about 6 months and had to order the replacement off amazon due to batteries plus not carrying it in my area. As far as programming....it's all about who you deal with. I have 2 dealerships near me and after much discussion and explaining the directions I got off this forum with both locations I finally got one of the service managers to hook me up. Didn't charge me a dime and had it programmed in less than 30 minutes. Mine was the first he had seen and every time I go in for oil changes they always mention how awesome it is!

Can anyone tell me which dealer in Canada knows how to program it. In Winnipeg, MB all the dealers I talked to said, it is not possible for 3.8 model. Only comes with V8. I know they don't know shit. I am running out of options how to tell them it is indeed possible. I just need to know a dealer who did it and i can ask them to talk to that dealer. Please HELP!!!

Does the smart key have any extra features compared to the regular fob ? Do we still need to press the buttons on the handles to lock/unlock the car or is it all proximity based with the new card key?

You have to press the button on the door once you're in proximity.

No extra features just the fact that you don't need to carry around the FOB. Yes you stil have to press the button. Plus not a lot of vehicles have the card.

I don't know about the 2G, but on the 1G the door buttons wear out if pressed too often and/or too hard. That results in a costly repair if out of warranty.

It's the same way without the smart key, you still have to press the button at the door handle with the key fob.

It shouldn't matter; the 2015 3.8 should work.
Just a caution to all 2015 and 2016 owners. Following is the info I have gotten from Hyundai Korea for specific Smart Card Key numbers as well as prices in original Korean Won (current exchange rate is around 1,100 Korean Won/$:

95443 B1000 for 2nd Gen Genesis produced before March 4, 2015
95443 B1010 for 2nd Gen Genesis produced after March 4, 2015

Price for either one is 209,000 Korean Won. So many who are selling this at $250 or so net of shipping is not adding ton of mark up to Korean price.

So please make sure that you are getting the correct part when buying from different sources.

The link to Wiki page on decoding the Hyundai VIN is above. It will get you to the year and the month info but not the date. So if your car is manufactured on March of 2015, you will need to know for sure which date it is..... Otherwise VIN may be enough to tell

I know i'm a bit late, but i had mine done in Ottawa (they said they had to give it a couple tries), and it worked on my 2015 Genesis 3.8 Luxury.
Unfortunately I totaled the car last april and still have this key. So if anyone wants to buy it off me im looking for $150 (can ship, if you pay for shipping) i paid $300+ shipping from south Korea, the card says Model: SVI-DHCFGE00

I'm interested, can you take some pictures of your card? Also does the key still blank?

If this is still available, I will take it.

Let me know!

I have been told by 2 dealers that once the card has been programmed for a car it cannot be reprogrammed for a different car so be careful of that.

Similarly, my dealer in Toronto tried but was unable to re-program a key fob that had already been programmed for another Genesis.

For those in Toronto - where did you get your smart key card programmed ?

Are there any USA based sellers for the key card? I am only seeing ones from Korea on Ebay and would prefer to not have to wait for it to ship from Korea if possible.

I would find the part number and google it.
