If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey all!

I was wondering does anyone know if the spoilers work well on the genesis. I would assume it might add some additional stability at high speeds as it is a RWD. But it may just as well be an aesthetic piece... any thoughts?

Cheers,

Cosmetic. Unless you're going to bolt something substantial on, there's nothing that's going to help when you're going over 120 (which is when supposedly the handling gets touchy), especially something secured with double sided tape. ;)

It's like putting a wristwatch on your cat. The only way it makes a difference is if you are going at insane speeds, around the Nuremberg Ring, and the spoiler looks like it belongs on a B52.

Fair enough. This saves a good couple hundred :P. I actually think w/o spoiler looks better.

AHH I AM EXCITED TO PICK UP MY CAR!!!

pretty much all spoiler works on the aerodynamic part for the car. And you may or may not benefit on it.
For instance, if the spoiler add down force to the rear but it is too much for your car, it will slow you down... or in other words, it adds more stability than you needed/wanted.
But for an average driver (like myself), the true difference is very minimal and mostly likely you will not know. ;-)

If a spoiler isn't part of the original car design (which the Genesis rear spoiler isn't) then I guarantee there is zero aerodynamic benefit. It is purely cosmetic. Even most of those cars that do have factory spoilers, have them for styling not stability reasons. Add-on Cosmetic Spoilers just cause more drag and the only functional result is lower fuel mileage!

Yup, you pretty much summed it all up in a nutshell. I agree with everything you said. I do have the rear lip spoiler on my car and the only reason I bought it was for the cosmetic purpose knowing that it will not benefit me for performance. It looks great, and I'm still getting around 30 mpg's on the highway (prior to me putting the car in storage).

I didn't see any genesis' on the site. Do you have a picture of yours? How much did it cost and how hard was it to put on?

I also looked, and no Genesis pictures present. Also, I'm pretty sure it has the "sticky tape" on the bottom/back of the product to stick it on. Just like my rear lip spoiler.

not try to start a flight.. but there are a lot of after market spoilers that have good effect on a car which doesn't go as original design. And there are plenty of video on testing those (of course not all spoilers get tested in this case).
Again, a typical driver like myself may not able to say the difference. :p

You are absolutely correct, there are aftermarket spoilers that do provide aerodynamic advantages (downforce, stability, etc.) but I was careful to state "Add-on cosmetic spoliers" which only provide a styling change.
I think we are both on the same page:)

Ordered one today. Will let you know if there are any problems. Hopefully the spoiler will get me up to 200 mph--

Little spoiler before and after. I understand the Genesis is not a super-car, and will not do 250mph. It's just to show with a proper spoiler THAT IS MADE FOR PERFORMANCE, your top speed will be limited witht the drag, but more force is produced over the drive wheels for traction. I also understand that the spoiler in this thread is for vanity reasons and not performance.
