Hey team, I am cross shopping a 2016 Hyundai Genesis v8 Ultimate w/ a 2016 Kia k900 v8 w/ Ultimate pckg.
Here is what I've gathered to be the differences:
Kia K900:
-No LKAS like the genesis (massive let down)
-No high beam assist like Genesis (massive let down)
-Better looking shift knob (subjective opinion)
-Better ambient lighting at night
-12" LCD instrument cluster
-Quilted white leather interior is nicer (subjective opinion)
-Has wallet key and for 2016, got smart trunk like the Hyundai
-Also in 2016 K900 got it's version of Hyundai bluelink which is something I would use to pre-heat or cool the cabin
-soft auto close doors (surprisingly useful on many occasions when I owned a 2015)
-Memory seat on the passenger side (I don't think genesis has this)
Here are my questions because I have not driven a genesis yet:
-The k900 does not let me stick my hand in the door handle cup & auto unlock the doors. I have to press a button to unlock the door. (first world problem) My Lexus IS250 let's me just grab the handle, pull, and go. Much easier. Does the genesis allow this like the Lexus IS250?
-To circumnavigate the issue, I could buy a k5store canbus module that allows the k900 to auto-unlock the doors when it senses my approaching (mirrors fold out) & also auto-lock when I walk away from the car... Does the genesis have a module we can buy aftermarket that allows this?
-The K900 has what's called privacy room. And it is something I loved on my old K900 (2015) Say you open the rear passenger door on the driver side, only the rear passenger side overhead LED shines down to illuminate the seat. It's a projector style, meaning it doesn't scatter light all over the place like most all cars do. And it's very very elegant. It does this for all doors/seats. One of the nicest things I tell ya especially when I have passengers sleeping. Does the Hyundai Genesis have this? Here is an example photo (although it really doesn't do it justice)
-Does the Genesis have soft auto close doors? This is when the door isn't fully shut by the passenger or driver a motor will grab it and bring it in.
-Does the auto high beam work well or is it as delayed as it was in my Range Rover Evoque? Meaning on rare occasion it wouldn't recognize a car coming And on about a quarter of the time it would turn off the high beam a bit late compared to a human doing it.
-Can the shift knob be swapped for a K900 shift knob (or other aftermarket ones?)
-Is your LKAS system able to be hacked by openpilot? If so, I think that will be the deciding factor for me to get the genesis. Especially if you guys have a module that will allow the doors to auto-unlock upon approach. Here is info on Open Pilot.
Thank you in advance if you have read this far.
