  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I plugged my iPhone 5S into the USB outlet to charge while I streamed bluetooth audio today (using an Apple lightning cable). I received a message about not being able to be plugged into USB while bluetooth streaming.

Does anyone know if an MFI certified charge-only lightning cable will allow use of the built-int USB for charging while bluetooth streaming?

Has anyone found a small and powerful USB car charger? I found this article about a small one that looks very powerful: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-usb-car-charger/ Thinking of getting it to see how it fits and works.

Does anyone know of other USB car adapters that are close to flush?

There's nothing wrong with SCOSCHE. I have one that I got for my old Azera. I picked it specifically because it fit as close to flush as is possible. It even has a pull ring surrounding the edge that closes, then you can swivel it outward and use it to pull it back out. Anker is another very good brand if you can find a flush one (I haven't looked). I'd be cautious about the really far out no-name ones out there (there's a bunch of them). I've read horror stories of them damaging both the phones and the DC plug in the car.

Thanks for the confirmation on the SCOSCHE. I won't go with a really off-brand one.

I bought one of these a few months ago. It has 2 USB charging ports that will charge both my Samsung Galaxy S3 and my Google Nexus 7 at the same time. One of the ports is supposedly wired for Apple devices.

It fits very nicely in the power port in the center console.

You CAN stream audio from your phone while plugged into the USB port.
Start the song via Bluetooth, in Music, I-Radio or Pandora then plug in your phone to the USB.

It should then continue to play and also show the Cover Art on the display.

It's a little flaky, you may have to press the play arrow on the phone and/or the play arrow on the display to make it work while connected. You may have to press the Media button somewhere in the process. It's not a very friendly connection.

I tried to play a song on the Amazon Player, but it won't work while connected if you have I-Tunes music downloaded on your phone. Amazon only works via Bluetooth.

You may have to reconnect and fiddle with the play arrows to make it work while connected. The big benefit is the Cover Art display.

However, for plain old charging, I purchased a compact double USB charger on E-Bay and it works fine with my IPhone 5S.

Here is a link to E-Bay:

Mine is white. My wife can charge her devices while I'm connected to the car's USB.

Good Luck.
