  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The attached file has the Genesis decode for engine & transmission numbers as well as VINs. Very useful to find the V8s.

Hi

How I can I know if this car is Auto Trans or not ? here is an example

KMH CG41 GP1U 232413

[pseudo-cross-post from my WTB post--sorry if I'm being gauche]

I'm looking for (preferably) a 2012 or 2013 3.8L V6 Technology Package.

I see tons of ads for 3.8L V6 Genesis sedans, but most ads don't say if it's base, Premium Package, or Technology Package. Per this site ( http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2013/hyundai/genesis/packages_options/ ), for a 2013, Premium cost $4800 more than base, & Technology cost $4300 more than Premium. So, it's difficult to know if the price is fair, w/out knowing which package the car has.

I looked at the VIN decoder document & there's a character for Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, Grand Salon, & Super Grand Salon. Do those names correspond to the packages that I described above?

Thanks!
-Jason

Here is another way to know trim levels for Model Years 2012 and 2013:

  • If the wheels are 17", it is Base Trim. If you have a pic of the car in question, the 17" wheels are different looking than the 18" ones, but it may be hard for you to find a pic of what they look like (2014 wheels on Base Trim are 18")
  • If the interior has the DIS control knob right behind the shifter, then it is Tech Package
  • If it has 18" wheels and no DIS, it is Premium Package

One other way to tell Base Trim is that has no NAV, except that some rental companies put in an aftermarket Nav system.

Premium has a touch screen nav system and tech has a dis controller knob on the console. The base has neither. That is the quickest way to differentiate by looking at the interior.
