  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Wing Emblem Installation Process

Placed mine today. Puchased from KDM and the holes match perfect. So easy.
Blowdry is the key.

everest5151;

Was the blow dryer used to soften up the adhesive before removing the "H" emblem?

Okay, so let me get this straight... Since this post is now 7 pages long!

Rear Winged Logo - Exact replacement even with the posts?

Front Winged Logo - The posts need to be removed first, then two sided tape applied, then you need to eyeball the alignment? Why is KDM selling something that requires modifications prior to placement?

Steering Wheel Logo - Dealerships should be able to replace the airbag without issue?

I hope the answers to these questions can help me and many others... Maybe add a sticky to this post so we don't have to read 7 pages of confusion? ;)

Okay, so let me get this straight... Since this post is now 7 pages long!

Rear Winged Logo - Exact replacement even with the posts? YES, PEEL & STICK.

Front Winged Logo - The posts need to be removed first, then two sided tape applied, then you need to eyeball the alignment? Why is KDM selling something that requires modifications prior to placement? THE TAPE IS THERE, THE POSTS COME OFF BECAUSE KOREAN HOODS HAVE HOLES IN THEM. YOUR CHOICE...CUT THE POSTS OR DRILL HOLES IN THE HOOD.

Steering Wheel Logo - Dealerships should be able to replace the airbag without issue? PLUG & PLAY

I hope the answers to these questions can help me and many others... Maybe add a sticky to this post so we don't have to read 7 pages of confusion? ;)

Hello!

I am a newcomer to this forum, I have a simple question:

Can someone please indicate the exact dimensions of genesis emblems?
In millimeters for the emblem on the hood and emblem on the trunk - the height and width.

Thank you for the answer!

I noticed there are two Wheel Caps available for the 18" wheels on Korean Auto Parts. One is for the V6 and one is for the V8.

I thought there was only one style of 18" wheels and that these are the correct wheel caps:

http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_237_238&products_id=2328

Can anyone confirm this, or give me some direction? Basically I want the wheel caps, wing badges and license plate screws.

There are in fact two different 18" designs for the center hub replacements. There flat disc which is most prevelant in pictures actually is dessigned for the 18" wheels on the 3.8. Since I have the 4.6 I purchased the correct ones and the differences are a smaller center logo and a different edge design which allows for the correct intergration of the wheel. These hubs are more expensive $249 but they are the exact design match. I will post pics soon.

Thanks - waiting for those pics!

Made the switch today to the rear wing emblem. Wasn't too difficult. Ended up breaking the old emblem. But of course didn't care about that. A little tough to get the old tape off of car. After some thinking, I just went back and put the heat from the hair dryer on it. Tape then came right off. Entire process could have taken about 30 minutes if the tape had come off easier. Used dental floss and an old plastic club membership card to remove the flying H. Pretty simple. Thanks to all of the insight here on this forum!

I just removed my rear emblem. I used a 4" plastic putty knife (flat on both sides and relatively thin) that I already had in my garage. I used a hair dryer with one hand and the putty knife in the other hand. Worked my way around the tabs, gradually prying it off. It only took 5 mintues and came off in one piece. I can see how it would have taken a little longer without the 4" plastic putty knife. Took about another 5 minutes to get the residual glue off the trunk lid.

I put my Rear Emblem and Winged Wheel covers on today. Very easy process, what a difference it makes.

JW you dont need any additional tape for the rear wing. Took me twenty minutes. Hair dryer-flat dental floss. and GOO be gone. Works really well and looks great.

I only needed extra double sided stick tape because I used a front emblem on the rear. When I got my emblems back in July KAI didn't offer a rear emblem and I didn't know there were 2 different emblems. The emblem does stick out a tad bit since it doesn't sit perfectly flush w/ the trunk.

It hasn't bothered me enough to swap out my emblem for the correct one. In fact I prefer the slightly larger size of the front wing emblem. The other one looks too small to me. Just my $0.02. :)

I just installed my rear wing emblem and the posts and holes line up perfectly. Perhaps a change was made, don't know but no more drilling, grinding.

What? There was never any need to remove the posts on the rear emblem. It always fit perfectly. Some people were trying to put the front emblem on the rear by mistake (they are slightly different).

The front emblem does require post removal because (obviously) there are no holes in the hood of the NA Genesis Sedan (unlike the Korean version).
