If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Wing Emblem Installation Process

I almost feel bad. My dealer, who gave me a great price, delivered the car fully detailed (yeah they used real wax and a power buffer) with all the "wing" badges installed (hood, trunk, wheels) at no charge. They do it for all Genesis buyers. The owner/manager just laughed when I told him about all the fuss and just said "that's one reason we're one of the top Huyndai dealers in the county. Really, I almost feel bad. Almost :)

The front emblem needs to be filed down? Why didn't they just make it flat? Why have the prongs? Didn't realize I was going to have to do so much work. :D
The KDM Genesis has holes in the hood for the front ornament, hence the posts. Since Hyundai decided not to include the hood emblem for the US market, they didn't poke the holes in the hood.

The front badge smooths out real nice with a dremel tool...in seconds!

Ordered combo of trunk/steering/front and wheel caps today.... called dealer, who said that installation on everything wouldn't be a problem for them.

THEN, I asked about replacing the airbag and he balked, saying that he would be afraid of liability (which I sort of understand his position) and that he'd have to say no to replacing the air bag if I wanted to go that route.

Just passing it along in case others run into this.... it would behoove you to verify that you've got a pro to replace (or competent in DIY) BEFORE you order...... (and NO, I haven't ordered the airbag......... yet)

The airbag replacement is very easy actually. I've never replaced one before, but I did replace the airbag on the Genesis and it took all but 20 minutes.

I am not the DIY type, but I may take this on myself. For those that just put the stick-on over the flying H.... Do you "like" the look?

i did not like the sticker so i installed the kdm airbag and sold the oem airbag on ebay.

I did a step by step picture thread on how to install the air bag.

Just finished replacing my airbag with the Winged version purchased off eBay for 135. Did not have an inflator so swapped mine by removing the 4 nuts (w/o disconnecting any wires). Could not have been easier. Thanks for the instructionals. Looks great!

I am re-badging tomorrow. No hood badge but I am taking some Forumu-users advice and removing the Genesis badge on right side of rear end leaving just the 4.6 badge and the new wing badge showing

Love the minimalist look and since I escaped the gaughty dealer badge it will be a very clean look, especially on a black exterior

You might notice that the 4.6 is a little to far right when you take the "genesis" off. I ended up taking everything off... You might want to consider the hood badge too because it looks bangin'!!!

Ugh..... Now I am going to fret over taking it all off. I will save hood badge and reconsider later but thanks for the input on the 4.6 being to right sided. You are probably right.....no pun intended

Matter of opinion - I like it much better nekkid

You can always just take the Genesis off and leave the 4.6

If a couple days later you don't think the 4.6 looks correct you'll know what to do. You might be able to salvage the 4.6 and move it over slightly.

Took off the Genesis and left the 4.6 as you suggested. I like it and it adds somewhat to the mystique. Love the rebadged look. Didn't do the hood and the pasty on the steering wheel doesn't look bad at all but will almost certainly go with an air bag replace in a few months. Thanks for the suggestions

Why not go whole-hog and replace the steering wheel? Check my album for pics...:D

Toss us a link and info on that wheel. I do like the look...the wrap and ergo design seems like a nice upgrade! Thanks now for your future info posts!!

Here 'tis: http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_237_239&products_id=3506. (Disclaimer: I didn't say it is inexpensive, but I love it - very solid and chunky, with finger indentations unlike the OEM 3.8 wheel. It feels great and is not as slippery as the leather wrapped wheel. The thumb indentations are a nice touch also.) :D

With the price of small plastic chrome pieces, I know a great job like the wheel would be up there. And add the airbag upgrade (not plastic cover) makes it look better but at even more of an additional price. I can see it in my future...but I gotta save some first... Thanks for the link...

It wouldn't have occurred to me to change the wheel but now that I see what you've done I think it's a spectacular improvement.
