If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been fighting a never ending battle with this, I love listing to dance music / techno type music - however all I hear is rattles throughout songs. It's so annoying to the point the Lexicon isn't even worth it anymore.

Not only that, I have the 14 speaker one, not the 17. I would hate to see how it would sound with 3 more speakers!
Rattles seem to be everywhere, where the door controls for windows, etc are (that bar), the back somewhere (i tried putting down sunshade and up to see if any rattles are removed), (making sure nothing is in the door pockets) etc.

I know I can't be the only one experiencing this.. However, some people may not listen to music that contains a lot of bass neither so they may not hear it.
If I listen to a love song or anything then the sound system is perfect. But anything with certain bass is just horrible.

Every time I bring it to the dealer they claim they don't hear it. However even my passengers mentioned it when we took a trip. It's rather embarrassing....
Any suggestions or known issues that fixed this? This is very disappointing to have to worry about what songs will cause all those rattles.

I just test drove a 2013 lexus GS 350 and no rattles or anything with their Mark Levingston system (I understand there is a price difference though but still).

My settings on the Lexicon is this:

Treble: Fully Up
Mid Bass: Center
Bass: Two bars to the right.

Even at like volume 14 I can hear it.

Is there no hope for this issue to be fixed?

I don't think I get any rattles except for the rear deck of the car, although I am running a 12 Kicker, but the rattles only happen as certain bass frequencies, so it's not all that often the rear deck even rattles anyway.

I have my bass set to 3 bars less than max and (knock-on-wood) I don't really have any rattles. I usually listen at volume between 10-15. I won't say the car is rattle free, but it is only occasional and definitely only when the song is "just right" at some particular resonant frequency.

I listen to a wide range of music...but to get into your preferred type, I've listened to David Guetta's latest Nothing But The Beat 2.0 at pretty high volumes with few issues.

I rock Psyph Morrison's 'Live By the Code' at 30 with the bass 3/4 up and it's perfect. Young Money's Steady Mobbin' feels like a magic fingers massage with different frequencies hitting your shoulders, back and seat but no rattling.

I have the Lexicon 17 speaker system.
Treble: all the way up
Mids: two bars up from center
Bass: two bars from max

I listen to alot of electronic/dance music as well as hip hop and rap. I don't notice any rattles in my car. With that, I didn't think the system has enough bass. The sound is super clear though.

Same thing here... sadly lack of support from the dealer as well.

Area's of complaint include but are not limited to the following:

Passenger side A pillar
Passenger side B pillar
Driver side B pillar
Passenger side front lower door
Rear deck and adjoining area...

I can put Skrillex or Deadmau5 at 18 and its clear.

Metallica / Megadeth at 24 and its as if Im there live.

My settings:

Treb 2 bars from max
Mids 3 bars from max
Bass 1 bar from max
Surround On

The vehicle was tight when I bought it - and I never had these issues...

I was optimistic about the improvement over my outgoing TL... (Honda's are known for being rattle traps)

However, with almost 30K miles and 8 months of ownership under my belt I'm left wanting for more...

I suspect that you have blown your speakers.

I suspect that you have blown your speakers.

Possibly... but most likely not. The issue is (IMO) is resonant frequency with the interior panels... I have pulled my door panels and personally inspected the mid bass and mid range speakers... mine were fine.

Although I have hundreds of sq ft of deadening material available in my basement I don't really want to go through what I had to do on my TL...

Volume level 14 tells it all. Hearing aids ahead too

How does he have a Lexicon with only 14 speakers? It sounds like he has a non tech standard sound system.

I listen to the same music and full blast and I do not have any rattles.
What I want is more power to get the volume higher.
I have the 17 speaker tech package.
Check with a reputable sound installer.

I wonder if the amplifier for the Equus is "PnP" in the 17 speaker Genesis system? It boasts 608 watts vs. 528 watts.

I listen to dubstep... one is louder... no problems no rattles at all

News Flash: The 14 spkr system is a Lexicon.

There are some misses with the Lexicon System - own a '12 R.

For me, it's about door buzz w bass or rear deck rattle (added a single powered mtx 12" sub and a level control pot, just to clarify). Didnt muffle or remove stock system sub as I wanted to see if it was bass overkill before I screwed around with it. As it stands, I'm glad I didnt - it was the cheapest and easiest upgrade ever. My sub pot usually is set around 2 and rarely goes over 3-3.5

The miscues I hear were partially the same ones before sub - door rattle from heavy bass shows up. At this price point I can only say OK. I dont expect a fully dynamatted car. Hell, I didnt expect to be ok with stock speakers. Do certain recordings sound off? Yeah - is it so off that I'd pay to swap? Not for me - first car ever that I havent had a "to do" audio list.

Besides that - I've found that under heavier bass the rear deck sub seems to "fight" the prevailing. I dont know if it's related to a design attempt at servo, an excursion issue, or just me being an idiot. It's too small for real bass, too underpowered for real "feel" and should be larger if it was a passive radiator. Once again though, I wouldnt change a thing at this point - for the money, this car is awesome.

Only issue is exhaust and lagging trans IMO. Having paid twice the entry price in the past and still having similar issues makes it a non-issue.

I'm currently building an enclosure for a sub for the trunk of my Genesis, and trying to keep alert to tips...

So srf11, if the original factory "sub" seems to "fight the prevailing," and you are using an mtx sub, I assume in the trunk, then why not simply disconnect the wiring to that OE factory Lexicon sub?

1200 mics + 20 volume = no rattles :D

Apologize for not stating that, but I have had it disconnected. Was hoping originally I wouldnt have to, just so it would be a ridiculously simple task to return everything to bone stock.
