  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

I agree with you . Kind of redundant I know ,but I was curious because I did not see it and I just like to know how to operate all the features
You kinda need to sit in the driveway & play with it - not much documentation feature by feature.

Pleasant surprise yesterday being able to order a new map (version 14) for my Santa Fe for just $35.00 with shipping. I wonder if this is just a temporary thing.

As long as it continues to work without a Connected Services account, the lower prices are certainly a good trend.

Ordered the SD Card as it came available for my 2015 3.8.

Should arrive Tuesday

That's like the 4th place you can see your speed after the speedo, HUD, and the LCD between the gauges.... lol... I never understood why you would want the LCD speed display right next to the speedometer.
Probably for the younger generation that does not know how to tell time looking at an analog clock. What's that pointer thing for?

I love the clock! I'm also 40...so i might not be the young generation

Someone posted in one of these threads that if you pop the SD card out, the radio boots up almost instantly, and still works - so does AA/CP. Just wondering what else doesn't work. I'll need to try it.

thats interesting..AA is just so much better than built in nav ...so easy navigate to a place by natural speech instead of tedious input + all the features of google assistant. in any case, i just ordered mine to update the base software for whatever its worth.

would never have considered it at the regular price. hopefully this will be a trend for more manufacturers. although they make less on the individual transaction, i'm sure they will more than make up for it in quantity. just look at this thread ;)

another point to note is that with growing popularity of AA and CP, people are no longer dependent on the built in navi. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if manufacturers start phasing out built in navi in a few years like they did with cd players. built in navi is no match for running always up to date google maps/waze with live data. to get somewhat similar features, you'd have to subscribe to connected services. even then there is no live crowd sourced warnings like speed traps and traffic jams.

i would not consider any car these days that did not come with AA or CP. so with dwindling base that are willing to pay exorbitant price to update their software/maps, it prob made more sense to lower the price to increase sales volume.

I almost wish that cars would come with standard openings in the dash, so you could upgrade the whole unit... Just like "the good 'ol days"!

I think you would be hard pressed to find a new car that doesn’t have AA and CP. certainly Genesis doesn’t have any new car without them.
Problem still is they still connect by wire and the few that are wireless are buggy.

There is wireless CP & AA out now... Heard that they can be kinda buggy though.

Buggy to the point of in useable., But I think in the next couple of years you'll see it.

I don't mind to much it's a direct connection... charges my phone and all that

exactly my point..AA/CP is so commonplace nowadays not many people would use the clunky built in nav if they had a choice. just bought a fully loaded 18 vw atlas and didn't even bother with the nav that it came with and went straight to aa lol... built in nav days are numbered i tell ya.

I guess most people don’t bother with wireless charging and instead prefer that “clunky” usb cable. I happen to like keeping my phone in my pocket or a least just laying down on the wireless charging pad. Car even reminds you to take it w
In case you haven’t checked, everyone’s and everything’s days are numbered so that is a pretty safe statement.

I used AA twice. I don't get it. I keep my phone on my belt. If I decide to use nav, with AA I have to take out the phone, connect a cable, start the app, once all done and going, the next turn does not show in the HUD. If I want a POI, I just push a button on the mirror.

You may be right some time in the future but to work well it has to be wireless and better integrated. Maybe next generation.
