  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Short answer? Don't. Not worth it, AT ALL. I am upgrading from the 95S91 version that came w the car as purchased in apr of 16. I figured it had been a few cycles, time to go ahead and upgrade, maybe there would be some nice little goodies... Nope. You get "3d" mapping and bird view, which is glitter, at best. Junction maps, which have in 2 hrs of testing proven to be worthless. Enhanced map UI... if it is, I can't tell. Faster bluetooth pairing, well, again, wasn't a problem to begin with. Oh, and setting a destination is "easy", well folks it wasn't hard to begin with. That's it. But hey.... errr... buzzwords and "we listen to our customers".... customers that apparently weren't speaking loudly enough as Ultimate owners still don't have access to all the functions the first two trims get. Not gonna beat that horse anymore, we all know.

Noticeable changes?

Everything takes longer to load.
Voice recognition takes longer to turn on.
Voice recognition is worse than before.
Delay after voice input longer than before.
My addresses in another state are no longer in the system, addresses that have existed for almost 20 years and were quickly found by my last version.
It keeps attenuating audio like it wants to tell me something or I have an incoming call.... then nothing happens... and a while later the audio is brought back up to previous level.

So yeah, WTG HMA, you took something that wasn't broken and "fixed it".

My humble advice would be to avoid this update. Go have a nice dinner with the wife, it's a better use of funds.

dunno if it worth pointing out, no activation code was needed, plug and play for my model.

jm2c folks.

Well damn, sorry to hear but you have probably just saved us a bunch of money.

Wow, thank you for the info. I wonder if it's possible getting your money back. It sounds like it's straight-up defective.

Interesting...us non-Ultimate owners got the 3D upgrade with the free Android Auto/Carplay release. Can't say I noticed any bad side effects from it but I hardly use anything other than the radio and live map anyway...

not sure if its possible but maybe there is a way to do a factory reset and try again? glad i went with a tech pkg with android auto... no crappy OEM nav and free lifetime updates courtesy of google.

well maybe it just needed a harder reset than a hard reset, as of this morning, the majority of the excessive delays are gone, but it does still take a long time to boot, doesn't mean I change my recommendation though, if you have an ultimate, pass on this one, imo

I purchased a DVD from Acura to update the navigation maps in my wifes MDX and after sitting in it for over an hour in the driveway while it did all the file copying, converting, and who knows what else, it finally finished to where I could turn the engine off.

My point is..........after all that, the instructions stated that for the next SEVERAL hours whenever the engine was turned on, it would be finishing the update. So maybe there is some stuff going on in the background and after several hours of having the engine on, there will be a noticeable improvement it what you see when interacting with the navi system. Just basically hoping things improve for you over the next few days. Best of luck.

Is the navi sd card locked to a specific radio ,or can you buy a used navi sd card from someone who upgraded to a newer map, will his old sdcard work in my car ? thanks.

Interestingly enough update is currently "unavailable"

I called MapnSoft about that after it was pulled as I was about to update my system to this latest version. The rep said it was pulled for our car because the software update was bricking some systems. He wasn't sure when it would be back up online.

Judging by what the OP and rep have said, maybe it's a good thing I didn't order this update while it was available!

Thanks for letting me know I made the right decision to forego the update. The price of it is crazy, IMO and the original has not let me down yet. As far as input, about 80% of my inputting addresses is done from my computer using BlueLink. I find that to be very handy.
