GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

This is really frustrating. Still a little hope that 66K would actually be 59999$ + 6000$ package. We all know we'll have to wait for the car, we understand, but pricing (and financing). Come on !!! If it wasn't for the bad driver headroom in the EV6...
It would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The 'package' trick could work when the options are for various appointments or features, but I don't think it would pass for something with a different powertrain.
For me, it's a moot point as I'm not interested in an Advanced, and at the anticipated $76K, there's no way the Performance would qualify. I'm not necessarily out at a $76K price. I will need to experience the vehicle and decide if its worth $20K more than an EV6 GT-line. Contrary to Jerry's dealer, just because I can afford to buy a GV60 over an EV6, doesn't mean I will.
 
Wow if my dealer talked to me like that I’d cancel my reservation on the spot. I have deposits down on other EVs and the price the GV60 comes in at determines whether it’s competitive against the rest of the market, not whether we can write the check to buy it. That’s pretty awful customer service.
It really is the culmination of months no information.. I only call once a month, is that unreasonable? I know they are getting fed up with all the enquires but isn't Geneisis all about the customer experience? So far bad experience.

I would cancel but I really like the car and ordered day one. However the comment has made me place other preorders as a hedge.
 
You guys are getting carried away here. There's a gobal chip and parts shortage. Shipping issues, and etc.
Every other manufacturer has a long waiting list.
The sales people here are doing their best to guess dates and delivery times as well as prices.
I wouldn't trust any individual dealer as it is beyond their pay grade to be 100% on anything until it is actually official and on the website.
Good time to figure out which GXM is worth their salt and which ones you cut ties with...
 
Finally decided to register an account here.

Honestly at 2k higher than the top EV6, the Advanced price at 66k makes sense (if they get the rebate). But, until they announce their prices, and more specifically, if it falls within the rebate range, they'll get a ton of preorders that could all be meaningless. The Q4 etron gets the incentive, and while the Genesis is more well equipped, Genesis doesn't have the brand rep to command such a high price. The EV6 and Ioniq 5 top trims have more features than the Advanced and will come in at around 7k cheaper I believe, and that's too much for me. Many of us have deposits on multiple EVs, and every salesman I've talked to knows this. They could really drop the ball here if they don't price it for the market.

Lots of manufacturers do release a barebones model that no one can really buy anyways, so I'm still hoping that Genesis will do that.

But, the claim that they're waiting to see demand for the rest of the month to drive up the price would align with my dealer's email saying an update will be coming first week of June.
 
yikes, at the speculated price of $66k for the gv60 advanced without rebate, i'm seriously considering the audi q4 etron as well. the top line is $72k and is eligible for the $5000 rebate. how's the pre-order line over there?

We know there is a chip shortage and so there are going to be delays. All we ask is that the company communicate. If they say there will be pricing at end of March and they cannot meet that timeline then clearly communicate that there have been delays and estimate when they think there will be more information. If that looks uncertain then reach out again.

I put a deposit down in the 2nd week of February. I have emailed my salesman 4 times since then. He has responded twice with no information at all.
I don't think I'm getting carried away when I say that putting down a $1000 cash on a $65k plus product entitles me to some minimal communication.

Agreed that Genesis is the source of information. So, why then, are the salespeople passing on misleading information to get sales on a product that is already over sold and a 'luxury' product at that.
And many salesmen are not even responding to paying customers.

That is not a case of us, as customers, being unreasonable.

And if I were running Genesis Canada I would be keeping an eye on things like this to preserve my reputation as a company

Unfortunately the Genesis dealers are Hyundai dealers as well. Hyundai and by extension Kia never had the most stellar reputation for customer service.
Genesis really needs to clamp down on professional behaviour here since they have really grown in the past 4 years here.
I've never had an issue with the GXM I deal with since 2018. But I also had the sense that they wanted to gather as many pre-orders as they could by suggesting that deliveries would be this year rather than being frank and saying they don't know!

Warning for any Deposit holders check immediately that your order was in fact placed. I placed my preorder 10 minutes after receiving notice orders had opened on Feb 8.

I have spoken to my sales rep over 6 times since then asking if everything was ok, he always said order placed and ok.

I just spoke to the sales manger regarding my number in que, he checked and said he only has me down as a deposit holder NOT placing an order! He said in early March the order books were opened and the sales rep needed to contact the pre-orders, confirm colours, get a drivers license photo then place the actual order with Manager.

He did not do this so now the Manager wants to place the order today as if I just preordered today.

No wonder I did not get an email regarding Que.

I am so mad I am going to cancel. The rep said he wants to make up for his mistake he will throw in some winter floor mats!

I demanded the Manager contact Genesis Canada and try to make this right.

This was not only a sales reps mistake but a failure of the Manager to properly oversee the preorder sales process.

What a sh... experience with Genesis

Did everyone else get a call for license and order confirmation in early March?

This could change very quickly. Central banks on both sides of the border are moving quickly to raise interest rates. I suspect that with potential vehicles buyers looking at a 2% increase on both their mortgage and car loan rates, there will be a substantial number that will no longer be in a position to afford things.

I called dealer in March , and I had to provide driver license to submit order into genesis

I was not asked for any documentation.
This supposed differentiation between making a deposit and a pre-order seems made up by the dealership. Almost all of us made our deposits through the Genesis pre-order page.
Let's be honest, there is no meaningful difference between a deposit and pre-order. A deposit must be made toward something - what is that thing if not a vehicle order? Also, how meaningful are our pre-orders if we can walk away from them? This is just meaningless pedantry from the dealer.

Checked my emails, they had said they had placed my order when the deposit was received at that time.

I did email for an update and my place in line for sanity sake.
 
So strange! How much do you pay to place an order vs deposit? Is there an actual difference?

I placed the pre-order online last Friday and received a “deposit confirmed” email with invoice reference (Letters only). Dealer reached out that day to confirm interior & exterior colour. Did not ask for driver’s license.

No build rank # even though I asked about it. I suspect it’s because I’m late to the pre-order game, but not entirely sure….

I have no idea whether my 'order' was properly placed or if I've just got a 'deposit' on file. I don't see much point in following up now, as I'd be 24 months down the line if nothing has been done with my 'deposit' to this point - and I'm not going to wait that long.

Mine says the same but he said that is only a preliminary preorder that had to be followed up with a license and actual factory order from the dealership. I hope they placed the order but if you did not give your license it probably like me was not placed. I did push very hard he said sorry the rep made an error and all he could do is book it as of todays date.

I’d ask for my money back. Why give them an interest-free loan for another year and a half to secure a vehicle that won’t be given to you until the supply situation has been resolved?

It looks like he’s making up more terms, now there’s a 1)deposit, 2) preliminary pre-order, and 3)pre-order?

Either way, the website is clear indication that this deposit/pre-order distinction is baloney. Your contact just didn’t do what was required of him. Given that, and his earlier comment to you, he’s demonstrated that he doesn’t deserve your business.
