  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Rumours that something more will be in the federal budget next month. If Genesis is smart, they’ll wait until the budget to announce pricing, just in case they can sneak something in to be eligible for a subsidy.
April 7th is Budget day. Hopefully we will know about GV60 pricing shortly thereafter. If they are in fact waiting to see if iZev qualifications will be increased.

It looks pretty positive so far, this is from the Canadian Press:

The Canadian Press reports that the coming federal budget is expected to expand that program to include used vehicles and more expensive models of electric vehicles so the new SUVs and pickup trucks coming onto the electric-vehicle market will qualify. The Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV will both start at about — or above — $60,000 in Canada, for example.

Yes, it’s bloody frustrating. My guy said there was one back east earlier, I’m not sure if that is the one that is now in NewYork (I think that white one in the video is NewYork), but there is a car at least in the US (not to mention the other green one that popped up at a dealership for a few hours) and without a price ?! Sure, there were either timeline mistakes or just delays due to situations beyond control but it’s dropped in other countries, at least tell us the blasted price so we can decide if we’re going to buy one or move on to something else. This boat must be powered by paddle wheel at the rate it appears to be travelling.
The GV60 in NYC is a Korean spec performance model with regular mirrors. It arrived in mid-November.

It's really nice.

Today I was told they expect to get two final US specs for demos in NYC in the next week or two. So it seems reasonable to believe the first wave of cars is arriving.

Genesis is radio silent on US launch, but it is immanent. Maybe the announcement will sync with the NYIAS (mid-April). Then we in lower NA get to wait for official pricing. I am told they expect the base AWD to be ~$55K. Two models for the US: base AWD and performance - prob same spec as revealed for Canada. Also, no adaptive headlights for US in the launch edition.

Received email from my dealer today April 7 who till now was reluctant to advise me/and/or didn’t know stating my build order number is #42 for Canadian preorders which means I should be well placed to get my GV60!!,
The dealer also advised of the following updated timelines:

Here is the current estimated timeline for the GV60.

  • April - Production slated to start for GV60s.
  • May - Pricing Announcement, Demonstrator vehicles to arrive for test drive purposes.
  • June - Interest Rates for Leasing and Financing to be released.
  • Summer 2022 - First wave of pre-orders to arrive for delivery. Pre-orders will continue to arrive in waves.

A substantial change from what was communicated to me (and others). If my GV60 isn’t available until the summer, I’ll likely wait until the new year for the EV6. The car would get little use in the fall and winter, so Sept. ‘22 is essentially the same as March ‘23 for me.

Same here , not exactly excited to get a car and then turn around and start hunting for winter tires and wheels , might as well get another season out of my winters on my G70

If true, this is a really unfortunate timeline. The most recent update I got only included that April was production (I have build 57 in Canada apparently?) and May the demos will come. I'm on the cusp of just executing my pre-order for a Tesla though because the way these timelines have slipped is getting almost unreasonably long. "summer" delivery for a car I was originally told at time of deposit would be here by mid-April is rough. Probably out of Genesis' control given the situation in the world right now but frustrating for prices to not even be announced yet.

And the pivot to May for demos to arrive is less than transparent unless they were in fact NOT on the cargo ships on their way here in early March as many of us were told. I don't think they can blame Somali pirates for this one.

Just be glad they weren’t on the Felicity Ace. 😀

Having the demo vehicles only get here in May after taking deposits several months ago is pretty brutal. At least give us pricing or be a bit more transparent when the demo cars are going to be coming.

I just pulled up the email my sales contact sent me. It seems he was much more conservative than those other dealt with - if there was a pool, he may be proven the winner. :)

In late Feb. he said: 1)vehicles will start arriving in May/June for the first of us to place deposits; 2)Pricing available in March/April; 3) Lease/finance rates available in April/May.

He subsequently said not to trust anything that wasn't published by Genesis as no one really has details. (At least, those that do, aren't talking.)

From Genesis Canada or a Genesis dealer? Sadly, the two are very different from a reliability perspective. As I didn’t get a similar email, I suspect it was something a dealer or salesperson crafted on their own.

I hope it’s accurate as the language used is pretty certain. It would be embarrassing if things did not play out on that timeline.

This is why I have chosen to wait to pull the trigger for GV60. I really want to drive this car before I commit. I am 6’2” and need to be sure that the headroom is adequate. So far I have not been able to find headroom specifications. EV6 seems to be a bit short on headroom with a sunroof. If all is good, I will order for delivery some time in 2023.

Deposits are ‘no risk.’. They do little more than hold a place in line. If we choose not to purchase when our number is called, the money comes back to us.
I, too, will need to experience the vehicle before committing.

Headroom specifications have been published. First row headroom is 990 mm and Second row 967 mm. First row legroom is 1075mm and 1460mm shoulder room as well. Should be within a couple mm at most of the EV6 without sunroof (39.0 inches) If the EV6 has a sunroof, it goes down to 934 mm, so the GV60 has a full 2+ inches over the sunroof spec EV6.

Yes I have been told that the deposit is fully refundable but I am okay to wait. If the headroom is that much better than EV6 then GV60 should be good for me. I still want to see the real vehicle to be sure.

Minbar I, do you have a link to the spec’s?
