  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Long time follower here but first time posting. Just wanted to share that I had my test drive of Performance model today and it was like what others have said, really solid drive, good handling and the boost button was super fun, I kept pushing it, lol.

One thing I wanted to share which was a major bummer, and not sure if it has been mentioned before, but what my dealer told me is that the Canadian models will NOT have finger print to start car. The finger print scanner is there and will load up your profile, but the start car feature will be disabled for Canadian model. The face recognition to open door feature will be there though.

So just thought I'd share what I was told. I'm still hoping the dealer was wrong on this one...

Also, lease rates should also be released soon I was told. IMG_20220531_211638.webpIMG_20220531_211606.webp

The dealer seems not to have visited the Genesis Canada website. On it, the “Fingerprint Authentication System” is mentioned, and described as “This system allows drivers to start and drive the car without a key and serves as an authentication function when activating Valet Mode.”

Yes, I believe the salesperson is wrong.
It’s not unusual for salespeople not to know what they are selling, sadly.
At least when I went to the dealership yesterday the first thing the salesman said to me was ‘you likely know more about this car than I do’.
He was right and I respect his honesty.

Yeah, I immediately checked the Genesis Canada website when I got home to verify... What I did notice was that paragraph has "international model shown" in tiny small print. I went back to the car specs page, and tried to see if finger print start car is listed anywhere, and couldn't seem to find it. I hope Genesis ain't pulling some crap on us in how it's presented, cause, I like everyone here would be bummed out if it really didn't have that feature. Anyways, of course I'm hoping the dealers wrong on the info.

I read on a different forum on Facebook the other day that fingerprint start was disabled in the Canadian market due to privacy laws, however on the comment section a dealer claimed that they tested it and were able to start the car without the key in it thru the finger print sensor so hopefully it works.

Has anyone heard whether or not there is any charging included in canada?

hmmmm, just checked the US configurator and it shows fingerprint and face recognition on the Advanced model. Did not check the other model.

Seems unlikely. The pre-order page lists “Face Connect and Fingerprint Reader” as a feature.

The privacy explanation makes no sense? How would it be acceptable to collect facial info, but not fingerprints? Why is it okay for Apple to use faces and fingerprints to unlock devices, but not Genesis? This explanation is nonsense.
Canadian law generally allows the collection of any kind of information, as long as it is agreed to and appropriately used and protected.

Yeah. Again I am in Winnipeg and we have not even had a demo arrive yet let alone see touch sit or drive it so unfortunately all the information I have is second hand at best. According to their post the salesman said they could use facial to get in, finger print would set up settings but would not start the car. Then a dealer or different salesperson said they were getting their demo and would post an update and said all systems were working including the finger start.

There have been so many examples of salespeople making up ridiculous stories about this vehicle. It's like a bunch of high school kids spreading nonsensical rumours.

How absurd is it for some salesperson to claim that it's a privacy violation to use a stored fingerprint to start the car, but okay to use one to store personalized settings?

Yeah, what everyone is saying makes sense. Didn't mean to stir up the confusion with my post, but I was shocked myself when I was told the GV60 won't have the finger print car start. I have a feeling the dealer was basing this on the GV70 fingerprint situation. Fingerprint scanner in Canada
Not sure if GV70 ended up getting theirs, but hoping for the best for GV60. I also checked the facebook group as someone mentioned and you're right, another Genesis Sales Manager did confirm that fingerprint car start is confirmed.

Anyhow, I think the car still drives amazing. Looking forward to it!

If the fingerprint start biometrics are disabled that would mean you would be always required to carry a key on your person and then what would be the point of the facial recognition feature?

the sales people SHOULD be a reliable source of info. It’s sad they have not been.
i was chatting with mine recently, and he said that they were heading to Toronto soon to see the car in person and get some info, which would help that situation.

Or Phone with NFC feature. There's also smart key card for some hyundai that you can add to the card.
But having this faceconnect feature totally get rid of the use of any keys which is absolutely fantastic.

Tesla don't have this!!!

I test drove the GV60 in Ontario on Monday. The salesperson said the face recognition and fingerprint DOES work in Canada. He said I cannot unlock the car with my phone though. PS. LOOOVED he test drive. Was everything we expected.

Did he say why the phone cannot unlock it … is that feature part of international model ?

Sale manager are so much of s**t. There's two version of the digital car key (GDK1), not every phone has NFC, mainly for android only. the (GDK2) now accepts the newest iphone with UWB feature. SEE: iOS - CarPlay - Available Models GV60 is compatible, along with G90 and newer BMWs.
GDK2: Explanation: Introducing Digital Key 2

The GDK1 feature is highlighted on Page 5-12.
Page 5-20 also talks about the digital card key (typically sold at Hyundai Dealer), its just a NFC card.

However, there's one thing that strike me tho is, you can only register 1 fingerprint per user (2 user in total) for the fingerprint.... (Page 5-30).
But if it fails 5 times, then it should prompt for a password.

For anyone interested, the lease rates for Canada are now live on the Genesis website. It's at 5.4% for 48 months and 5.9% for 60 months.

Lease prices are now available. 1300$ for 48 months.

In Quebec, after rebate, 740$ for Kia EV6 GT-2. Almost half price.

Value is subjective and Genesis is a better car, but the difference is huge !!!

5.4%, yikes! Do they show the residual values anywhere on the site?

For a while, I wondered if this might be my first-ever lease, but the numbers are pretty harsh.

Based on the QST/GST in Quebec, 5.4% , 48 month term and payment of $1300, (this is presumably a performance model, I didn't account for any down payments)Your total interest obligation is going to be just short of $5K and residual around $33,400( around 42% residual)
